Unidentified Kyosho Buggy
Unidentified Kyosho Buggy
Hello all. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but i’m new here.
I bought this partial Kyosho buggy at a yard sale and cannot find anything that looks like it online.
Does anyone here know what it is?

its a "Sand Skipper " 1982 vintage and pretty rare , https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=132238&id=0 , about all i know is it had pneumatic tire that you actually pumped up !
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

Thanks for that! That’s fantastic!
I googled vintage kyosho and didn’t find that one.
Do you think that’s the original motor?

Re: Unidentified Kyosho Buggy
It could be , its the right type but I'm no expert on the specifics and there were a few of the same general design at around that time , it should be inside the gearbox in the part hanging out the back so if you have not opened the gearbox there might be one in there ?

Yeah, i pulled the motor out. It’s in the second photo down. Says Mabuchi and Japan on it and it has a capacitor on it.

Re: Unidentified Kyosho Buggy
Just to add that's it's not necessarily a Sand Skipper. They came is three variations which were a VW Baja Bug, Toyota Hilux Pick Up, and Sand Skipper. Which one it originally was remains a mystery without the original body. Although it doesn't have the roll bar which points to the VW Baja Bug version but that doesn't mean much as it could have been removed.
