Modern rims/tires for vintage RC10 or how I gave up on old tires

Post by Nero45 »

Ok I'm at my wits end with this and I would like any help. I missed the boat when they were making tires and rims for the RC10 a few years back. I know there are rims still being made by JConcepts but tires are the bane of my existence. I'm willing to upgrade to using modern 2.2 rims but again I've missed the upgrades for this and not sure what to do next. I've toyed with the idea of buying a metal World's Car kit that would change from the original setup (trust me there is not much original about this car) but not sure how much would be compatible. It maybe just better to start from scratch but it would be a very expensive step. Please help, thank you.

What kind of surface are you wanting to run on?

That answer unfolds a lot of choices. But need to know that first.

JC Racing out of the UK makes direct fit 2.2 wheels. I’ve ordered them before and they are great! Highly recommended. Depending on your application they have a set for flanged front wheel bearings and 1/4” rear axles, or if you use 3/16 rear axles and unflanged 3/8 front wheel bearings you can use the B2 wheel set. They all come in black, white and yellow.

Oops I forgot to mention where I would be using it. Mostly backyard and dirt I've got other RCs for the road. Thanks for the help I'll check them out and keep them coming.

Second JC Racing Products. I have a set in each of the different colors. Direct bolt on, no mods. Now you just have to decide on tires...

Plus, they look great -- well, I think so anyway.
Has anyone tried to dye JC's white wheels?

Doug
I did dye the wheels for the Houge before I painted them.
Totally forgot about that until just now
They took dye as well as any other nylon I have done.

I just got a set of JC Racing wheel set for 1/4" axles (RC10), took about a week. Highly recommended! I live in Virginia.

Thanks Chuck, that’s good to know. I could order a few sets in white then dye them later to the appropriate color.
Btw, your car looks awesome -- like it’s been carved from a chunk of blue marble. Just amazing! 8)
