Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
Next round of parts. Some Avid bearings, and some mystery RC10T CVDs with arms and mounts. The arms and CVDs are in good shape and not worn out. I figured it wouldn't hurt to have spare rear mounts and hinge pins and I wanted CVDs anyway. I cleaned up the vintage Pure-Tech strap and will try and reuse it I think.
The truck came with a Futaba S3003, so I guess that is ok. Any suggestions for sometime faster/more truck appropriate are welcome. Modern or Vintage I guess.
Any ideas on the CVDs and their origin? I don't see any identifying marks to speak of....

Another pile o parts showed up. Took a few tries, but the Stealth went back together. Put a T4 upper shaft and slipper unit in place of the stock stuff. Now to find a dust cover that fits... Next up shocks and then some electronics.

Looking good.
the 3003 will be hard pressed to turn anything in a stadium truck. Pick any modern servo with 8 or 9kg.cm of torque and you'll be good.

Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
Another step closer. Got a motor, Reedy 13.5 M3. Now I need to find an ESC to go with it... Not sure about Reedy Vs Hobbywing and if I want a stock only, or something I change tune/change up.
Im having a HARD time finding a Futaba radio in stock. Super bummed out about that. All they carry locally it seems, is Spektrum.
Going to order up a Savox servo, and then some paint.

Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
What slipper cover will work with the T4 slipper? Is it as easy as just picking up the T4 cover? Or does it need modification?
Oh, and Im looking for some 2.4 radio suggestions.

Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
Those are very early MIP CVD's. The early ones have no raised rib around where the cross pin goes. Nice score.
As for the gear cover, the current stock Associated 6566 or RPM 70081 cover for the Re-release World's car will fit with the B4 slipper clutch. RPM: https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEMVV&P=7

Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
Are those the stock length covers? I tried mine, and it doesn't fit over the T4 top shaft. I'm wondering in a T4 cover will fit the screw holes.templeofspeed wrote: ↑Thu Jul 26, 2018 4:47 pm

Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
Which gear cover are you trying to use, the stock original 10T? That will not clear the B4/T4 slipper.
The current RPM and Re-release World's car gear covers are made for the B4/T4 slipper assembly. The B4/T4 gear cover's lower hole is not in the right place for a 2.25 motor plate.

Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
I just want one that fits. When I looked up the RPM cover, it didn't seem deep enough, but Ill give it a shot.templeofspeed wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 1:36 pm

Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
Can anyone suggest springs for the front? I think the springs on the front are too short, maybe buggy springs? To get any preload on them, I have to set the collars about half way down the shock body.

Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
Coming along nicely! Those front springs do look a little short. There are plenty on eBay for the T4 that should fit. If it's a parking lot runner I'd chose a firm spring like Red. I use the silver medium spring for carpet racing at the local track.

Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
That is where the preload starts, so I wasn't sure if that was correct or not. I see some T4 spring on eBay, but will big bore springs work?

Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
I finally found Futaba in stock, so I have a 3PV on the way. And I ordered the MCI decals for the body. Shouldn't be much more to finish. Now to figure out what size lipo to get...

Re: RC10T Ebay Runner Project
Well a little more progress. My Futaba 3pv came in so I can mount the receiver. I got the Hobbywing ESC soldered in... Might need to redo my work.
The new RPM gear cover is really nice. The trenchers aren't glued yet, I need to put some vent holes in first. Im not a huge fan, but until I get around to finding/driving to a track, they will work for parking lot and baseball field duty. I set the tierods to the factory length, but man does that seem like a lot of toe-out...
Now I need to finish the body, figure out a steering servo... and wait for the Factory works steering kit. Oh and I need to figure out a lipo that will work.

Definately change those steering bellcranks out for something else. Looks good and should be a fun truck.
