Re: Forum News & Discussion
The lanes are prepped with glue. Then there is all of the downforce created by how fast they're going. But you can see a couple of guys playing with the triggers. You would be surprised how well you can follow the car when you are the one driving it.
I used to hate marshaling those fast classes (gr. 7, gr. 27, etc.).

Re: Forum News & Discussion
Yeah, I thought I could see some kind of substance on the track but wasn't sure.
Honestly, I don't think I could ever drive anything that fast.
Maybe this is more my speed. I think I could get into this form of slot car racing.

I can see cross-overs in the track presumably for overtaking the car ahead. Do you know how they are doing that? It says "the digital slot car association" and there are lots of buttons on the throttle controller so maybe some of them control the cross-overs?
Okay, I think I'm drifting off-topic a bit so maybe this is best discussed at another time.

A "Back In The Day" new forum section, related to misc. scale automotive hobbies?

Re: Forum News & Discussion
Two very good ideas!
We'll have to come up with an agreed upon name for the section after there's a concrete list of the forums that will be in it.

Re: Forum News & Discussion
Sounds good to me. I have an extensive background in model cars and slot cars of all scales going back to 1968.

Re: Forum News & Discussion
This is what I have thus far. I think the section name fits in with the others. I'm not entirely sure what forums besides Slot Cars to have under it though. I'm open to ideas of what might be popular that people will use.

Re: Forum News & Discussion
Good suggestions but they must have wide appeal to members here so the new forums remain active. Static models are cool, and I have a few kits myself but how much consistent activity would it generate?
I was thinking something like
Slot Cars
Toys
Television/Music/Movies

Re: Forum News & Discussion
Vintage BMX? Not into them personally, but i know a lot of people from this generstion are...
What about a section for 1:1 car projects? I've enjoyed watching the Chevell and the GN projects recently, would be cool to see other members' projects. We've got some talented folks on here.

Re: Forum News & Discussion
Consistent Activity... yea, Model Cars would be a real dull section. I build 1/43rd scale multi media F1 models and it takes me a good year or so to finish one.Lowgear wrote: ↑Fri Jun 08, 2018 11:38 pm Good suggestions but they must have wide appeal to members here so the new forums remain active. Re: Forum News & Discussion
Tomorrow August 1st I will be updating the board to the newest version. I will also be updating the board to the newest PHP version. All modifications will need to be temporarily uninstalled, and themes disabled. The board will be closed periodically for extended lengths of time throughout the day as I work on things. Just a heads-up as the process won't be pretty, and you won't be able to use the board during it.
