What to do with old Nicad chargers?

Post by Basher67 »

I hate to throw these away, but they are starting to stack up around here. They don't seem to be worth what it costs to ship them to anyone. I remember once upon a time, I would have killed to get my hands on a protech charger. Now it's looking like they may be dumpster bound. It just seems like such a shame. I've been trying to come up with a way to repurpose them, but I got nothing.

Put them on the buy/sell/trade, somebody might want them!

That ProTech is pretty sweet! I could use one for chargimg the NiCad pack I'm goimg to build for my 12e. I can pay shipping plus a little extra for your trouble.

I have a second protech with an analog gauge also. The one above seems to be charging but the digital display is not coming on. I'm going to post all of these in the buy sell trade section. Anyone who wants them, can have them for the price of shipping on a "first person to PM me" basis

I have a few I can't convince myself to get rid of either... really sad indeed. When I was a kid, fancy chargers were drooling material.

What's funny with that (gorgeous) protech is that they did it AC/DC, gave it an LCD etc... but it's still a timer-based charger, as opposed to a delta-peak-based one

I took all the guts out of an old AE 12v 15 min charger, and plan to replace them with the guts of a cheap lipo charger someday. Mostly just so I can take it to the track and watch people get really nervous when I hook it up.

I also have one or two of those. I'm wondering if it could be converted into some sort of motor tester...
