Re: NomadRacer's RC10 Trailing Arm Truck (update)
Yesterday I received a chassis stiffener/lipo holder kit from Factory Works. Very cool kit, solved my battery holder thoughts on what to do/what holders to use. I'm having a great time building the truck. Next up will be some body mounting action.

Re: NomadRacer's RC10 Trailing Arm Truck
Is that a GPM nose plate or AE FT nose plate?

Re: NomadRacer's RC10 Trailing Arm Truck
This is looking good
It's going to be interesting to set the damping/wheelrates properly on this car as the design is soooo different from AE had built their shocks/springs for. There is a lot less shock compression it seems than on the stock rear geometry...
I'm watching this thread closely as I have an A&L trailing arm RC10 (buggy) in the pipeline from the Pre-Jeff A&L days... The whole set is still NiB but I'm beginning to wonder whether I have the parts to attach the shocks to the tower in the bag
Good to know that Jeff will support the build anyway

Re: NomadRacer's RC10 Trailing Arm Truck
GoMachV pointed me to this nose plate on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Alloy-Nose-Plate-Bumper-Fit-Team-Associated-RC10-GT-New/190570587772?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
It was a very good deal, seeing as the AE nose plate is near unobtanium.

Re: NomadRacer's RC10 Trailing Arm Truck
That's the one I was thinking of. Does the quality/rigidity seem as good as an AE plate?
70 plates sold through them alone
add in all the plates from RC Damper and other ebay sellers and I'm surprised AE doesn't find it viable.

I'd say the quality of the nose plate is excellent. The countersinking for 8-32 screws is spot on. Over all, two thumbs up.

I'm not on the market for any - but are 10GT and 10T plates similar, and in which case, what has made their value skyrocket? I probably have a couple of NIP's at home... am I rich?!?

An idea for a project car? Sh*#.... I got one that's going to involve aluminum rod and a whole lot of bending

I wasn't going to talk about it yet, but since you brought it up------I invested in a tig welder recently and have been working on some custom jigs to bend up something special out of aluminum tubing.

@Basher67
Working towards the same goal, got a bag of steel dowel pins from McMaster-Carr. A buddy of mine is sourcing an aluminum plate for the jig.

Re: NomadRacer's RC10 Trailing Arm Truck
I'm sort of stuck on the body mounting right now. As you can see in the pictures, there's an extreme rake from front to rear. I've added some spacers under the rear body posts (4.5mm total) to bring them up the the bed, bed is resting on the shock tower now.
So, what do you guys think... Do some precision cutting around the tower and shock mounts points to allow the bed to drop down? I'm not digging the extreme rake look.

Re: NomadRacer's RC10 Trailing Arm Truck
Back in the day we would have cut the area out that was interfering. A lexan cover could be precision cut and bent to bridge the area over the tower between the two existing humps. Use a couple small BRP plastic rivets to hold it. Just my .02
