We actually got the car back in the day for free, probably around 81 or 82. The guy down the street raced dirt bikes, and he had a mechanic, Kurt Jablonski, who came to maintain and prep his race bikes part time. Kurt, or Jablonski, as everyone called him, and I became good friends. I used to ride my bicycle down there all the time, and if Jablonski was there I'd hang out and talk to him as he worked on the bikes and try to learn what I could from him. Anyway, at some point in the early 80's he gave my brother and I an Associated 12e. Before this we had only had toy grade cars, so this thing was just amazing and fast beyond belief to us.
Eventually we ended up getting Sand Scorchers and other off road cars as they were better suited to our neighborhood and we lost interest in the 12e, eventually getting rid of it probably as the swap meet.
From what I remember about the car, other than being an early 12e, was that it had a "turd brown" body on it, Can-am style, and I think without a driver. We also had a Futaba radio that I believe had sticks.
Anyway, here's the car I got from Jeff: The car is already perfectly restored, I just need to get a body, radio, receiver, and battery. I'll probably try to find a body as close as I can remember to what our car had on it, although i probably won't paint it crap brown, lol
