new optima diffs into optima mid?

Post by rccars4sal »

Heellloooooo. Anybody still hanging out here?

Are the new optima belt diffs compatible with optima mid? If nybody has experience,, what about the ball dis? Ive got the hard parts for an optima mid ball diff, but the gear is chewed, so im hoping the new optima rear ball diff gear will work with my old parts,, or hopefullhy, at least the gear diffs into an optima mid.

Thanks!

The rere Optimas use a 10x15 bearing instead of a 8x14. The internals are fine pitch now, 48p but not sure if it's metric or standard 48p. Really it would be a lot of work.

10x14 ball bearings do exist.

The main reason for the rear Optima MId diff becoming chewed up is the soft idler gear disintegrating over time. There are hardened versions available that don't do that, and despite those costing an arm and a leg by now they are probably worth the cost just because constantly replacing the rear diff is more expensive.

Yeah, it looks like the new optima rear diff gear side is much finer pitch than the old mid version. I suppose opt mid was 32 pitch. Ive got a thorpe center gear,, but my last diff gear is a mess. No worries,, I found some!
