Agreed Thorp diffs are very expensive. Plus a lot of work to adapt the driveshafts. However the performance gain is unbelievable! Old style "loose" gear diffs are worthless for racing.

Shy, if you ever want to toss the plastic chassis and do something different, I am open to redesigning my chassis set for a custom build. As it sits, my chassis sets are not terribly heavy but we could make it lighter and more racy. I'd be happy to work with you on it, clearly your work is top notch!

No, at least not without major work. They eliminate the bearing adapters on the Blackfoot so instead of a 5x11mm bearing they use a 10x15 flanged. You would need a 10x11mm bearing to fit the hotshot not possible

Thanks but that is really pricey for a rear shock tower. Does anyone make a clone of that part or is there another compatible part that would work? I want one but not that badly.

Conversion to CAD is $12 plus $15 CAD shipping. Not so cheap anymore, unfortunately. I don't need one of these that badly. Surely someone makes clones of this thing?

Ahh yeah I guess it could add up. It's listed with free shipping in the USA so I hadn't considered that.

I make and sell towers, and have one for the boomerang already. My towers are all $15 plus shipping, and average shipping to Canada is ~$5 making it almost exactly what that original tower costs, so really no benefit unless you want it custom

We all have different views and preferences as to our builds, which is perfectly fine. I see more and more of these option chassises. I even did a couple by hand as a kid, from my own creativity (never saw any option chassises). One here:



Still for me for the Hotshot I prefer the std chassis. It's quite stiff once you add the CRP fibreglass battery tray. And I like the "original look" of it. And the car is really really fast already.

One of the big downsides back in the day was heat and that the mechanical speedo needed servicing. Now there's no need to upen her up anymore

That being said I'm a huge fan of your work and I'd love to work on something else with you in the future for sure!

I think you might like what we've done How about a laser cut alu chassis with kickup for instance?...

For the Hotshot I have an idea as how to make a better solution for the rear tower, and fix a weak point...

I got another idea just now too!...

Anyway, this is the 8th vintage race I'm about to do with this thing now. And I would like to get to some other cars I have waiting after that:

FWIW CRP 1650 was the original upper a-arm brace for the Hotshot series. You can still find them occasionally.
