Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
Delrin and aluminum, same as before. I have a mailimg tube of white and black Delrin stock from the original production run still waiting.
The machine is coming in tomorrow, and it will be a while before I get fully situated.

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
Press release time!
Here are the facts right now.
My plan is to do a limited re-release of the 2.25 cases, likely 10 each in white Delrin, black Delrin, and aluminum.
The first run will be aluminum, same as before.
Delrin bar stock is still 2.5X that of aluminum, but as before, I do not plan to charge any additional fee for the Delrin version.
Overall pricing will remain at $50 per case unless there are unforeseen circumstances.
The timeline for this is a bit open-ended, but if things go well I hope to have first piece by the end of January.
I'll also need to find a set of internals to make sure that the fits are correct, so if anyone knows a good place I can buy a set, please let me know. Most online vendors, to my eye, have the gears/diffs/etc out of stock.
Let me know what you guys think, and if there is anything I have forgot to cover.
It feels good to be able to say this WILL happen.

Here are the facts right now.
- I'm incorporated as ABC Prototyping LLC, so everything has come to fruition on that front.
- The business is the proud second owner of a 1994 FADAL 4020HT VMC with a 15HP 10K RPM spindle and low (for the age) hours.
- I have full control of the machine, no waiting for other people, no worrying about a job being cut short.
- Shop overhead now has to be taken into account for future pricing, since my machine time is no longer "free", and there are bills to pay.
- Reverse engineering any future parts will take longer, due to lack of a CMM, and a current lack of free time.
- All my old reverse engineering data, CAD models, and CAM files from the 2.25 are still usable.
- The machine does not have a probing system, so my fixtures will have to be redesigned.

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
Hey guys,
Can someone point me in the direction of where to buy a guts-kit for the 2.25, now that they are re-re'd? I can't seem to find the gears on the associated site...

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
Hey Walt
Now here's where you have to be careful.
There are 2 versions of the 2.25 diff case (You obviously already knew that )
However
Tower has most of the parts
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVSEARCH=stealth+
A-Main has a few of the remaining parts
https://www.amainhobbies.com/team-associated-rc10-replacement-parts-cars-trucks/c3104?fb=13
There's also the Stealth Transmission Kit No. 6560
But it's really hard to find sins it's bin discontinued

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
I'm looking through those, and it looks like I'll need the following:
QTY Part# Desc.
1 LX2864 Associated Stealth Idler Shaft & Gear
1 LX2865 Associated Stealth Drive Gear Shaft Assembly
1 LXXH01 Associated Differential Assembly GT
I'll grab bearings from either VXB or McMaster-Carr, I've got the sizes from this post.
4ea. 3/8 x 3/16 x 1/8 unflanged.
2ea. 3/8 x 5/8 x 5/32
Am I on the right track?

Re: Discussion about possible aluminum transmission and part
1 LXXH01 Associated Differential Assembly GT is 2.60
you need the 2.25 diff
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX2873&P=7
The out drives, diff rings and gear wont fit, the rest of the parts are the same in the 2.25, 2.4 and 2.6 diff
