Re: TRX-1 mid
Nice idea. Aslo, I literally JUST thought of maybe a modernish style wing mount (post and body clip style) facing forward. hmmmm.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Re: TRX-1 mid

Re: TRX-1 mid
I am on the west side of the state and I have had access to R/C Plus!, the LHS here that I got my FX10 from BITD. The shop has moved about 4 times but has been R/C bedrock around here since the 80's. One of the few.
Anyway I rolled in there and was looking to pinch this thing off because they run indoor turf off-road on Tuesday nights and wanted to get in on the action.
Went 12mm hex in the rear with Schumacher pre-mounts. Tried it in the front with bandit parts but it got lost in translation somewhere around the kingpin area. I got impatient and drilled out the hingepin holes instead of using the smaller O.D. bandit pins. Ran into some binding. Duh.
Had to cannibalize my rear motor runner a bit for the cool kid parts though. Oh well.
I know I need some body off pics.
Had it at the track yesterday and it was pretty responsive. No clue how to set this thing up though. The battery is a 4600 shorty. It is servo taped in place.
Cracked the code on the rear body mount. It is a Losi wing mount flipped around. Thanks for the ideas guys. Had to drill my FL shock tower though!

Re: TRX-1 mid
OK so I went racing and I came in 5th in the stock C-main. So that's last of last place out of 15 drivers. Not bad for not having raced since 1997. But it is pretty dialed. I am not. I went back to the factory front arms. I am running "Pro" X-longs with 1 holers and 35 wt in the rear and longs in the front with same. Shock rebound is limited 3/16 inch front and rear. I put the MIP CVD's on it and I am also running the SRT steering knuckles with steel axles on the front along with 25* caster blocks. I wedged an additional 3* of caster out of the front so I guess that gives it 22* of front caster. 27T motor running 87/19 spur/pinion. 20T pinion, motor was a smidge hotter than I like and just a little low on punch for the double on short notice. Pretty cool they do 5 min heats or my motor would probably get smoked.
It is pretty fun to drive. I was at the track yesterday messing around working on some jumps and transitions as opposed to flooring it down the back straight and already started thinking about the life and availability of the motor I am running. Which led to thoughts of a 17.5 and BL speedo combo. I mean once you go Lipo and are racing against guys in 2wd stock with modern buggies and electronics, I can't help but think of that. I should probably learn to drive what I have before the next upgrade anyhow I guess.

Re: TRX-1 mid
So I've been racing on Tuesday nights at R/C Plus! I tried to go 17.5 with this thing with a HobbyWing Justock / XErun. Found out after I but it that you can't flip the motor to CW rotation and I don't want to hack on my trans case / flip my motor plate OR spend the coin to get a bells and whistles ESC / Motor combo that can rotate CW. So, I will save that for a TRX-3 indoor offroad turf rear motor setup, as futile as that will be it sounds like fun. Here are the latest pics and they are crap blurry cell phone. Anyway.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Re: TRX-1 mid
What exactly is stopping you from reversing the motor? If you just swap 2 of the 3 motorleads that should do the trick.

I'm almost positive that you can't do that with a sensored motor/esc. The only way to reverse motor rotation with a sensored setup is via esc programming, which his doesn't have that option.

tricky driving in 2wd...Mr. ED wrote:If the esc supports sensorless motors also you could just disconnect the sensor

Re: TRX-1 mid
Shouldn't be an issue with a 17.5t, not?
All my brushless moters are sensorless, but my driving is senseless anyway
