Best place to sell
Best place to sell
So im thinking about selling a large part of my collection in the near future. Where is the best place to sell vintage RC stuff besides here? I dont like the idea of ebay robbing me of a good portion of the selling price.
What say ya'll?

Here because we want the good stuff before anyone else sees it!
Old school rc on Facebook is a good place to buy and sell
eBay by far gets the most money and exposure tho. If you figure how much more you will sell it for on eBay, it usually exceeds the 10% fees. It sucks, and I hate ebay, but they are simply the best market

here, because you want it to stay in the family and sell to good people who will take care of your stuff, and because you aren't that greedy, are you?

Yeah... The only good thing about eBay is the exposure your items get. Every other aspect of it blows. When they started taking a percentage of what you charged for shipping, I was done.

If you're in or near a large city, Craigslist might not be a bad place to start. Like Sleazebay, it isn't without its issues, mostly spammers and game players posing as buyers. It's free, you just have to wade through the sewage of humanity to find people that appreciate what you've got.

that's as close as craigslist getscyberfox wrote:Lonestar, it doesn't exist something like leboncoin for U.S.A. ?
I've never, ever bought an RC on leboincoin, and I would never, ever buy one on CL either... as said above, you have to sift through the sewage of humanity to do so and I have better things to do...
... like buying/selling here from/to connoisseurs, for instance

(and I'm serious btw...)

It's not the sellers, it is the buyers who are the idiot spamming game players.Lonestar wrote:I've never, ever bought an RC on leboincoin, and I would never, ever buy one on CL either... as said above, you have to sift through the sewage of humanity to do so and I have better things to do...

You might find a few sellers who think they've got gold when they've only got dog turds, though, for the most part, the sellers have stuff they want to get rid of, most of it is priced right. And, you can tell by the quality of the ad whether the seller is likely an idiot or not. That's been my experience, anyway.

Re: Best place to sell
I heard someone at a LHS mention Old school rc on Facebook. I dont have the slightest clue about anything FB and I usually make fun of everyone who cant live without it.
I might have to check out that page. How exactly does it work? Do they have a BST or something?

Re: Best place to sell
I've actually gotten some very good deals buying/trading from Craigslist, but no, I wouldn't sell any RC gear there. Too many wackjobs to sort through, wanting everything for nothing or never showing up. But buying has been good to me. Best was a lot of 18 vehicles and several boxes of parts, bodies, and radios...traded some older game systems, stereo gear, and some other things I'd never use. As everything else, luck plays a part too, buying or selling...the right person needs to see what you've got...

I find that selling on the message boards will net you a lot of tire kickers. Lots of talk and questions but few sales. With eBay, it's put your money where your mouth is. If you want it, you better bid.
