Sell, Build, or Keep
I bought an RC10 CE kit #6016 off an older gentleman in Alberta, Canada. He bought it In LA around 25 years ago
and somehow never even took the shrink wrap off.
Now I'm trying to sell it but I'm struggling with either Unlisting it and building the car for the shelf, just leaving it wrapped and holding on to it, Or continue to sell her.
What would you guys do?

Re: Sell, Build, or Keep
depends
if your in it for the money, sell now. The people that want these are dying every day, and our kids wont want em.
If your into it for the collectability, keep it shrunk
If you want to simply enjoy it as it was meant to be enjoyed, build it and run it a few times, then retire it to the mantle
it really boils down to YOU. Personally, I would keep it unbuilt, but I would open to document it
(just a FYI, if you havent read the rules...your walking on the safe side of the line...dont let this turn into a sale thread)

Re: Sell, Build, or Keep
Do not remove that shrink wrap!
The moment you do the kit's value will plummet. If you build it you will be left with something only marginally special. If you feel the need to build an RC10, buy a used one to restore or purchase a newer kit.
To answer your question, I would sell or trade that kit to ChisaiKuso.

Re: Sell, Build, or Keep
Thanks that's great advice.
I have a graphite all built for the shelf already so I'm thinking Ill sell it or just hang on to it in the wrap.
I have it listed on ebay for now, but I dont want to give it away. I realize how rare it is.
Plus I'm more of a B2-B3 kindof guy as those were what was around when I was a kid. I really love the RC10's tho
always blows me away how they nailed the design so early.

Re: Sell, Build, or Keep
My advice is to sell it on eBay and not let this thread become a for sale post that will get deleted.

Re: Sell, Build, or Keep
I have no desire to sell it on here. I understand there is a classified section to sell stuff on. Just looking for advice from people who are into RC10's

Re: Sell, Build, or Keep
Since you likely aren't into RC10's, sell it. Then someone who is into them can build it.
But personally, if it was mine, I'd build it. Does nobody any good sitting in a box in the closet.

As opposed to what? Sitting on a shelf collecting dust?yellowdatsun wrote:........ Does nobody any good sitting in a box in the closet.
I have (I would rather not say how many) built shelf queens in my hobby room. Sure I had fun building them. I also greatly enjoy looking at them. The RC items that I truly treasure, however, are the rare NIB kits and NIP parts tucked safely away in the closet.
It all depends on the type of collector you are ... if you are even a collector at all.

Re: Sell, Build, or Keep
I would personally keep that puppy all minty sealed in that beautiful shrink wrap crushing on my shelf, haven't you seen Toy Story ? They love being in the box !!! I'd have to agree if you want to build something go and pick up a used cheap one on ebay, restoring somebody else's mess is way more challenging and fulfilling once you're done. I just love the hunt, it's in our DNA lol.

Nobody can see it in a box in the closet. At least you can look at, hold, occasionally run, and show friends, a shelf queen. A box just sits there.

Re: Sell, Build, or Keep
Hi Guys,
If it was mine I would leave it in the box and display on the shelf.
I would buy a used one to clean up and display in front of the box.
Cheers, Dave.

Re: Sell, Build, or Keep
This car built and sitting on a shelf = not rare
This car still sealed in it's box = rare
The other thing is..... 9 times out of 10 the person that owns a kit like this already has a nice built example already sitting on their shelf. They don't all have to be built.

Like they said if in for money. sell.
But like me (i had this kit was my first rc10) i would of built it already. Me personally I dont think about resale or the next owner. its mine and i want to enjoy it how i want. DO not care about next in line.

It's gone so long in it's package it seems rude to let it escape now in my opinion..
