Salvaged rc10 gold pan

Post by tuna.Rc »

I'm sort of in the middle of a move. I've been selling off a lot of my rc10's and other rc cars. Went from 30 + vehicles down to less than 10. All of my white armed 6 gear buggies are gone. I thought I had a few stashed away

I had been seeing this left over gold pan on ebay for a while. I decided to bid on it , and I won it. $25.00 shipped. I might have over paid , but I like taking junk and making something useful of it. I figured I have a ton of spare parts that aren't worth nothing , why not build a buggy out of them ?? So I bought this pile of crap.

I assume it was a early ce car. It's a double A stamp. It has the newer shock tower and bulk head. I don't have any wide white arms or correct nose plate , so my plan is to build a early 6 gear caddilac on this tub.

I didn't think I'd actually win it.lol. I didn't exactly zoom in on the pics , so the hideous drill job for the stealth was a surprise.

Getting off to a rough start on this beater build. I don't have the correct rear control arms , front shock tower , rear shocks for a 6 gear a stamp short arm. I do have parts to make a runner , just not a correct one. Didn't have all the spares I thought I did.must be missing a box of parts somewhere.

Off to bst & ebay !

I like it. Making something out of unused stuff is always cool.

This is the pile of parts I picked out of the parts box. I am definitely missing a box of parts! I don't have everything for this beater buggy build , but I have enough to get started. ( I have enough parts to finish it, I just don't feel like going thru the storage locker to find my missing box of parts !) I guess I'll finally buy some re release parts off ebay.

Parts I plan to get off ebay : battery trays ,Trans brace, rear control arms (maybe a whole new set ) ,nose braces ,shock collars & cups ,servo mounts, ugly green screws, turn buckle and rod ends set , cv axles.

Obviously this will not be a shelfer or any show car ,so I'm not doing my best work to it. Will not get the peroxide bath or anything special.

Some progress. I won a small parts lot on ebay, that part lot contains battery trays for this car, a bumper for another car and bits n pieces that'll get lost in the parts bin. Just might get away with not having to buy re release parts !

The shock towers, rear arms will be replaced ,along with the nose braces , when ever I find replacements... sure wish I knew where that box of parts I'm missing is at !

Sorry for the poor pictures. Best I can do while in a hotel!

Robbed this shock tower from my mutant team car runner. Replaced it with a 3 or 4 hole shock tower that came with the newer rc10's... now the front end on this car is all screwed up

But hey... I got the correct shock tower for the goldpan build.. 1 less re release part I have to buy !

Getting some where! No re release parts put on yet.. I should have my battery trays today. I may install a set Andy's front arms. The turn buckles are too long for short arms and I don't have any shorter ones on hand ... time to visit rc chop shop on ebay .. I only need a few parts for this build but I'll end up getting parts for 2 more builds that'll require me to get more parts

I got my parts lot in from ebay today. I was pretty upset because one of the battery trays was cut up.
Its very hard to tell, from how the picture was taken.
my parts lot had a Proline bumper, battery trays and I think theres enough to build a complete mechanical speed controller. The rest of the parts will get lost in the parts bin!

Yeah it's pretty rough. Shocks are leaking, it's covered in dust.im thinking of a complete rebuild and a brushless set up, possibly a modern wheel conversion. It's no where near stock, no point in keeping it old school brushed !

It's kind of done. I switched out some parts as you can tell. I replaced the Houge steering set up for a stock set up. Replaced the front shock tower. The turn buckles are out of whack and not correct. I threw on a spare protech body & wing I had.

I'm gonna have to visit the ebay rc10 chop shop , and get correct rear control arms , body posts, gear cover ( I have a new in pack edinger gear cover that will work , but I'd hate to waste it on a piece of crap like this!) Also need correct rear shocks.

Later on in will tear this car apart , clean up the hardware and peroxide the nylon. I got a old Novak esc and a stock associated motor that may go in to this.
