when did associated change turnbuckle styles
I went to the lhs today to pick up a set of turnbuckles for my buggy restoration. they had 3 of the 6259 sets in stock. one of them had long turnbuckles with the square center section and the rest of the ones in the pack had hex centers and were fully threaded. The other packs had all 7 rods with hex centers and were fully threaded. neither set looks like the one on tower(http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX2540&P=7 ) where all rods have the beefy square center and long unthreaded sections. The rods at the lhs look more like dubro turnbuckles cut to length than the AE ones I am used to seeing.
My question is when did they change over?
Which buggy would the hex type turnbuckles be appropriate for?
I don't have pictures as I did not buy any of the sets as I assume that the fully threaded rods are not as strong and I want it for a runnner.
Thanks!

Re: when did associated change turnbuckle styles
I'm pretty certain the square turnbuckles happened during the T2/B2/DS production. I have a very late CE with them. My early T2 still has the hex type (and old style spring clamps/cups).

Re: when did associated change turnbuckle styles
Im lucky enough to be local (relativly speaking) to Lunsford, maker of Ti components, namely turnbuckles. I have seen a couple variariations over the years of the turnbuckles used on RC10s.

MOMO, how's Kelly doing? I haven't seen him since the endless summer race a LONG time ago. I pitted next to him all weekend, He's a very friendly standup guy, gave me a free set of turnbuckles for my trx3.
