New Member - New Build
Hello everybody. I've been lurking around here for years as a guest and finally found the time to start a build and post. I am going to try and combine a few mostly complete rollers into two separate runners. I am working on my user image and picture uploads. I have a primitive internet connection.

Re: New Member - New Build
So I have actually started tearing the cars down and cleaning the parts. I'm going to post more pictures tomorrow and I have a close up of those shocks. Good eye, they are not AE shocks but I didn't notice when I bid on the car back in 2011. I've been inspired by a lot of the period correct gold pan runners so I'm heading that direction first. I haven't wrenched on one of these cars for close to 20 years so I'm in it for the learning too.

Here are the shocks I'm working with. The one on the right is from the CE but the one on the left is the shock in question. Does anybody recognize this shock and if so what is it? They came on my graphite roller.

Re: New Member - New Build
I want to build a true runner so I had no reservations drilling this old A stamp out to fit a Stealth. I gave the chassis a good cleaning and that's it. Other than a few scratches it's in pretty good shape.

That shock looks like a Kyosho Gold or Duratrax Gold shock...

Yep, the beveled edge shock shows it to be a duratrax shock. If the bottom edge wasn't beveled like that it would be a kyosho shock. There is a thread around here somewhere with some really good comparison pix but I can't remember where right off the top of my head.
I like your comment on drilling a $20 chassis with a $150k drill

Re: New Member - New Build
Yeah I think they are duratrax. I'll through them in a parts drawer for later. Great discussion. Can't help but think what life would be like right now if my graphite roller would have came with a set of AE Shocks. AE shock parts on order.
Re: New Member - New Build
The simple green alone does wonders. I washed all the parts and put them in the peroxide bath sealed in a jar.
Re: New Member - New Build
Got a little more work done. I've got a great system for restoring old screws and washers I'm going to post.
