Re: Bringing Back The Fun, Version 2
Question......
Is this early CVD bone period correct for a '92/'93 truck? If so I need to find another.....
I'm debating what to do with axles for this, whether I stick with the dogbones, original AE universals, or CVD's. I want to keep this as period correct as possible, however, I do want to run 3/16 axles to give more flexibility for rims.

Hi RJ,
Your trucks coming along nicely!
These are sweet, I don't think I have ever seen another set.

Those are awesome but for that price I wouldn't want to use them.DaveM wrote:Hi RJ,

Shocks are all done and installed. I wanted to try blue springs but I didn't have any fronts, so I used greens instead.
Nearly ready for electronics.....

Re: Bringing Back The Fun, Version 2
Well, I ordered another vintage CVD bone to match the early one. In the meantime while waiting for it to arrive I think I'll finish off the electronics. I put axles in it so it's at least a roller now.
Here is the Tekin 411P that was pretty rough, this took a fair bit of work to bring back. I rewired the entire thing, polished the case etc, the works. I've also got a gold heatsink currently on the way thanks to Scr8p, thanks Jason.

Mr Anonymous ready to go in. I tried to narrow down what it could be by counting the winds. Unfortunately the winds at the crown are covered by what looks like kevlar string, so it remains a mystery.
It appears to have very little use but the comm was still skimmed on a comm lathe and all the usual "race" tweaks.

Re: Bringing Back The Fun, Version 2
Ok, I can nearly call this done. I'm still waiting on a few parts to arrive like my CVD bone and longer white body posts. This thing turned out pretty awesome and while maybe not a 100% period truck it's reasonably close.
The antenna coil is pretty old school and I think is a nice touch, definately looks vintage. It would be nice to know what the Reedy Ultra is, I'm going with Mr. S
Thanks to Scrap for the heatsink that arrived today, I still need to find the brake heatsink but put this one on for now.
This truck will be a blast to drive, the rear tires are plentiful and look similar to Pro-90's, so I'm not worried about wearing them out.
I'm pleased to say that only four re-re parts were used, everything else is original

Looks great mate.. When I got my race 10T from over east, off a guy that raced it for a couple of years then stored it. It came with the original unused universal's and the old fat cvd's installed in period... Love these things
.. Is this the one Alex had recently?

Thanks, I'm pretty pleased with this one. You should post yours up if you haven't already. Yeah, it's the truck that Alex had. I wonder where it came from?bully wrote:Looks great mate.. I posted it years ago when I first joined up. Don't worry you aren't missing much if you haven't seen it
.. I've done a few rebuilds lately of trucks and buggies but I suck at taking pics and I'm lazy about uploading them to Photobucket and here.

Re: Bringing Back The Fun, Version 2
My early CVD bone found a long lost love......
I thought I had a pair of 3/16" axles to use but could only find one, I did however find a lightly used pair of 1/4" axles. I'm considering using the 1/4" axles only to keep it more period, although the more robust 3/16" x 3/8" bearings are appealing.
Which axles would you use?

Re: Bringing Back The Fun, Version 2
Yay, the 10T now moves under its own power. I ended up going with the 1/4" axles for nostalgia. All that's left is to paint a body.

You need to post some action shots!
Great build, it's like a walk down memory lane.
