Re: Worse things you did to RC cars as a kid
Back when i just left school had bit of money i bought a yz10 off a sponsored driver in the UK it had everything fastrax chassis, nylon bulk heads, uprights, titanium bits ect. I was racing 2wd at the time, radio race series and at my local clubs. I stopped racing the same year and never raced the yz10 sold all my rc car stuff off
So the worse i did as a kid was not race the YZ10
On a plus side i started up again this year aged 40, bought a Rc10 worlds never had a rc10 back in the day was a losi man, but must say love racing the RC10
i have 3 rc10s now 1 ds and 2 rc10t plus a few more rc buggies ,cars and trucks

Somewhat off topic because how recently it happened...
Have you ever bought a cheap beater RC10 for parts off Ebay that smelled so bad you tossed it in the sink after only removing the 6 gear? I did this yesterday
I would normally not advocate tossing the whole car into the sink with water and Lestoil for half an hour, but OMG it smelled so bad. Most of the parts after rinsing and CLP for the metal came out fine; the tires+wheels still smell so bad I have them in a ziplock. The tires were glued or I would have taken them off first.

Yep,
I had one I thought someone must have been wiping their ass with it, it reeked!
I strip my RC10's right down and clean all the parts individually.
I like to inspect every part separately and immediately throw anything away that does not come up
to my standard.
No pulled threads, no cracks, no chassis's with extra holes.
Cheers, Dave.

Chopped up an AE gold pan chassis to 'fabricate' parts for my Grasshopper....
Thinking that 15 turn checkpoint motor would be cool in my Blackfoot...
Racing that 1:1 VW with my sprint car..

As a very young man I threw my Traxxas Nitro Hawk in to a concrete wall, shattering the crankcase and head after being frustrated with the "tune"!
I still miss that truck though, loved the look of that body!
As a kid, I think I burnt up some sort of radio shack Corvette trying to reenact a tv stunt! I was a major pyro when I was a kid, gas was my best friend!

Re: Worse things you did to RC cars as a kid
Bad things happened every time my brother touched it. Blackfoot wrapped out into parked car. Body explodes. Tamiya Ford Ranger straight into pond. Submerged, Novak Rooster fried (not finger lickin' good). The worst thing I did was I disappeared my TRX-T Eagle. I never sold it, it just went away. I still have a random peice of it here or there, but it is gone. I remember cutting up the chassis back then thinking I would use the pieces for something. Nope. What a shame. The shocks live and the rear bumper/motor guard lives but that's it.

Couldn't afford rc when I was a kid. Control line planes the nearest thing to remote c. RC probably ran on valves back then.
