a few months ago I received a special package from a old race buddy, I recently met again. He offered me his 12L that was put on the shelf more than 20 years ago, I actually got the car for free, as log as he and his son who are racing together in the 1/10th ic class could give the car a test drive when I was done with my restoration. Off course I didn't have to think long about he offer ;o)
This is what I've received:

The car was complete but needed a good cleaning and some parts to be exchanged, 1 very cool item on the car is the Christian Keil one piece rear motor pod ;o)

After cleaning thoroughly disassembly went quickly without trouble, and the chassis was re assembled and I had a very nice dejavu after so many years to work on a 12L again

The Novak M1c ESC was taken apart and a lot of debris fell out of the case, I replaced the wires and (the red color was not my favorite, but all I had in a longer length ;o)) the esc looked nice and fresh again, and I gave the heat sink some polishing while I was at it ;o)

The Servo that was in the car when I got it was a cheap Hype example and had to go, and in went a Futaba 132 that I had lying around.

The servo saver that will be replaced by a Kimbrough is a Tamiya entry version, and the steering rods that are also temporary are a Corally centerpoint steering set, these will go later to the original set up.

A receiver was fitted, Sanwa for now that will be replaced by a Novak receiver when it comes in.
And last but not least a motor was fitted, I found a nice Gold star Reedy that went straight in ;o)

The Keil Pushed Sanyo 1700 SCE packs that came along still held a charge and a quick wipe made them look good again,
Some back up newer cells were also soldered to be able to get some runtime

Tires were glued and trued and a xtra set of rear Green compound were found on the Bay

The original bod was fitted for the test drive @ my local track
The test drive went really well, I was carefull not to hit the boards, and the gearing was a little high, but I was amazed how the car felt on the high traction carpet, I will surely go out with the car again!

and off course a driver found its way

Latest addition is a new Associated Toj body that was a real joy to fit on the car, this time warp was a super experience since more than 20 years back I have cut and painted so many of them, but this one to me is very special

A body off shot

And a sneak peak of the Paint job it will get, a tribute to Kent Clausen

Next up are painting and decaling the body, sourcing the Kimbrough servo saver and track rods and off course that mint Novak receiver that will look so good alongside the M1c esc
Thanx for reading and I will update regularly
Cheers
