Fun racing classes what's the most unique race you've seen?
Re: Fun racing classes what's the most unique race you've seen?
Hmmm in today's eco minded world , I wonder how an endurance race would go over? Whoever's last car on the track still running wins or would it be just based on lap counts?

hey scr8p, we use to run races like this at birdsboro twice a year. we would run 1 midway through the points saeson and at 1 the end of the year. we ran 20 minnute races with 4-5 guys on a team and sometimes with 4-5 teams. each guy would run 4-5 minn and you could come out to run again if someone broke but couldn't change batteries. it was mass confusion and made a great night of racing. we awarded prizes to each team from motors to the winners tires to 2nd place and motor spray too 3rd. we stopped running them due to some guys cheating and running too long and changing batteries. now we run long races like 150 laps and see who's batteries last the longest. we have one comming up in 2 weeks it should be fun.the most out of the ordinary race i've done was a 1,000 lap dirt oval race. it was 4 man teams, with everyone using their own car. you'd pull in pit road, take your car off, swap the transponder into the next guys car, and sent him on his way. it was fun. my team second, one lap down.

we didn't have a set time to be on the track. you'd just run until your pack started to die off. then the next guy would go. we only did it once, but it would've been fun to do it more often.
it was at cressona mall speedway around 93-94. did you ever run there?

nope never ran there. we put the time limits in since we could now run longer with larger batteries but like i said some guys took advantage of this. the cool thing about racing like this is every vehicle type ran. we ran at least 1 of each class in our teams edm, novice, and truck.

We used to do this at RCRC in Gardena (Dirt Oval)...No rules (about car type/spec), No turn marshalls, $5 each, winner take all. Usually before the mains. It was a blast to see 4wd Dominators to Grasshoppers on the track messing around, going backwards, shooting through the offroad track, everything.Mr.Sci-Fi wrote: Whoever's last car on the track still running wins
The best "odd" race I watched was 2 man, and the person steering was blindfolded, the throttle person was giving directions. First one to make 10 laps won. Another fun one I wathced recently (at a JBRL event) was the Sponsered Drivers parents race, 2 or 3 of them were pretty good drivers, the rest were very fun to watch trying to pilot a 2wd mod car around a blue groove track.

Use to do this with Stompers back in grade school. Tug-of-war style. I had a black Semi that could not be beat. And a decent collection till one of the boys got mad and ratted us out. The teachers made everyone give back the cars they pinked...Mr.Sci-Fi wrote:Anyone ever participate in a title race? winner takes all?

It would be fun to do it with some running junkers, deal is no one would race their own car, you would swap controllers randomly right before the race. It would add a twist to the race and no one would want to soup up their car being that it wasn't the one that they would race. Each car would do one lap around the track before the race to prove that the junker was atleast worthy of running.
The prize ( the losing cars ) might not all be given to the winner. Let's say the winner gets to choose any two cars off the track, then the second place would choose one and down the line until the last place guy, who wouldn't get anything.

I seem to recall a PRO race, where they had likes of Pops Losi, Mike Ready, and some other big name industry folks blindfolded with a pro standing beside them coaching them (It seems it was an outdoor onroad race). The race began and the cars freight trained around the track. Little did the spectators know, there were several "PRO" drivers hiding nearby with the actual controllers driving the cars. Spectators were in awe these guys could drive "THAT GOOD" blindfolded.
Any thruth to that? Erich?
