Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Update on the sleeving/slop elimination for the front end.
As my previous post states i went ahead and drilled out all areas on the arms and knuckles and inserted the appropriate sized sleeve. the slop is completely eliminated. I made a slight mistake and overdrilled/flared one end of a knuckle and it shows excessive slop. I can probably fix this by filling in the voids with JB weld. other than that the slop is gone! It's so nice to have this. I will wait to do the rears as the slop isn't bad as the fronts were. I will next purchase appropriate shims/ washers to take up any movement between the knuckles and the kingpin elbows and the caster lock and the arms. That should provide one solid/slop free front end.
The last thing I will need to do is check the durability of the components from over drilling and potentially weakening the structural integrity of the parts. I will post raw pictures of the operation shortly but keep in mind i have not made it look pretty and still have lots of work to do to complete the finished product.
I am still having a camber issue swith the front end and I think the front axle is bent. i will purchase a new one and adjust it until my camber isn't as bad.

Some close up slow mo track action with the Scorpion. Sorry its kind of long and repetitive but I'd already cut half the clips and didn't want to cut any more. Just stop watching if you get bored. Enjoy if you don't. I could watch these sorts of clips all day, maybe there's others out there similar.

Anyone got a link to Banzai ( or similar ) for the Scorpion (and maybe even Beetle) parts and hop ups?
I can't seem to find the coloured tubs and such

Prices are really cheap - I got the CNC casters for $20 something, bought 2 sets now its $17.95
, they have really good prices, the idea is to buy a lot to make most of it, shipping will be around $14, They had missed a $5 part on my list and shpped without it, I inquired about that and they refunded me $29
, WHAT a discount, thought they had cancelled a portion of my order when I received the $29 discount. Note: almost all parts are made in China and some of it in Japan, the casters I got were from Taiwan. When you buy think about other future buggies that you might build and wish you had a few extra hop-ups to go on them!

aside from a couple of optima's and a mid i haven't owned a k car in a very long time.
i just bit the bullet on the scorpion. might make a nice classics racer for the next vonats.
i've always wanted a pre rc10 era racer and the srb's don't do it for me, especially at their price point.
i'm pretty excited for this one though.

I did up another video from the track, this time I've got a 20 turn Kyosho x speed motor fitted and it can just make the bigger double, a little bit more would be nice. I've ordered a 9t brushless, I fear I may have gone a little overboard there lol. Oh well I'm sure it'll be good for sandy loamy type surfaces.

It's a nice looking buggy and performs very nicely, I like driving it, enjoy your build.kaiser wrote:aside from a couple of optima's and a mid i haven't owned a k car in a very long time.

i'm pretty excited. it should be here tomorrow.
after watching your videos and some others i'm even more excited, this thing looks like it handles much better then anything else from that era.
im going to toss a tamiya sport tuned in there and see how it goes. i don't think i'll go brushless on it, it's destined for the classics class.

Hi folks
New on here. This one was a bit of an impulse buy for me on black Friday. Its the first r/c I've had since building the Frog back in 1984 but it was such a stunner I couldn't resist. I'm not sure how much use it'll actually get but it'll look good in a shelf somewhere I'm sure. Here's my take with Tamiya metallic blue and white.
