10mm. :P

Did Kyosho actually list the CB-88s as 12mm in the old Option House catalogs?

I have been doing some adjustments to the linkage and spacers, and have managed to make it fit under the scorpion cage. Still have to use the dremel on the tub, though....

Looks Cool 8) - Would be interesting to see how it handles.
Are You going to give it a test drive?

gomachV has done a red anodised version, Tomahawk style with an aftermarket body. perhaps that body style could be used on Your build as well - a Tomahawk with a large oval cutout in the "roof" could probably end up looking strange?

My idea was to use it on a "tomahawk-style" car, as I didn't believe the monoshock unit would fit under the scorpions cage. My plan was to cut the back off the Tomahawk body, and add a wing. But now that I've managed to fit it under the scorps cage, I might do some mods to the scorpion tub and use the scorpion body.

As to test drive it.... Of course  but not until the 3 days we call summer here in northern Norway

Very nice Tom!
Have considered trying to fab one myself, for the amount of work required I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Really like the look of it, and yes its old school and cool!

They say that this summer, was the best summer in Norway for 60 years, and yet You complain
I´ve spent most of this summer in Ølen and we had remarkable nice weather.
Yeah Yeah, I know, Tromsø is further north :D

Thanks scootmike!
I contacted a local tech/mech school, and they were happy to make it for me. These parts were hand made by some students, but they have just invested in a new CNC mill. Only thing is that no one knows how to operate it, yet. :?

They also said that whenever I have a similar project, I could call them. It's exactly what they are teaching, and makes great assignments for the students. The next thing up is making a replica of the CRP/RCH monoshock unit for the Tamiya SRBs, and maybe a replica of the rear cage and nerf bars as well. I have been trying to get my hands on those parts for years now, but parts for my 1:1 cars actually comes cheaper......

That mono shock system sure is cool, it was in the Japanese catalogs for scorps and tamiya SRBs, it was something diff they were trying, yes it is not better than an independent system, the idea of shocks is to keep the body level, than is that article says, that mono shocks helped keep the rear wheels for the 2WD system firmily pressed to the ground. One reason is it used one instead of 2, simpler and lighter, I don't know, how much the linkages add to it. Hey MONOS work, a fine example is the hot shots rears as opposed to the front. I think it works very close to an independent system, I have one, I better look at the mechanics of it again.

Not a bad design or approach. I would love a mono front shock system on the front, it will be for show.

For the mono shock kit - here is an idea for the linkages, use rod ends and turnbuckles, instead of the flat aluminum bars, it will save on weight and look better, use titanium (e.g technacraft) turnbuckles, and for the rod ends - tamiya metal ones that the super champ uses, if not beefy enough, use tamiya avante aluminum rod ends, they are cool. Another suggestion is CONNECTING ROD (CON ROD) from a used engine, say from 20+ sized nitro engines. These are optimized for lightness and strength. they look nice too.

I found a picture in an old rcca magazine announcing the ultima and ... it was missing a front shocktower? But looking closely it seemed to have a single shock in the front (difficult to see as it was a side shot)
