I bought this car new the first year it was introduced. Had fun with it bashing and even got some racing in with it. When my son reached 12 he took an interest in RC cars and wanted this one, Seeing an excuse to buy an improved new one I thought hell why not. Besides at that time I was teaching a Saturday morning course at the local High School on Radio Control... Perfect opportunity didn't even need an excuse for the wife. After about 3 years of bashing, bending and breaking my son decided he'd had enough of the car girls looked a whole lot better.
So I ended up getting the car back, and it sat in a box until now.
Here's what he gave me:
A Rescue and Rebuild RC10 A stamp

Scrubbing the rest of the nylon and rebuilding the tranny I ordered some rere parts from Towers Hobbies. I was really waiting for these parts to come on the market thank goodness for re-releases. I then got out my Royal Blue Rit dye and dyed all of the new parts.
As I already have a Championship Edition in almost mint condition from my teaching days I decided to try and use my McAllister lowering kit from the same era, I even had a set of slicks for the RC10 from the 80's. I also decided to throw in a 17.5 turn brushless Turnigy Motor HK ESC and a shorty 2 cell hardpack. Now I just have to find the right body for this...
