YZ 10 alloy wing mounts

Post by npdp72 »

I need some alloy wing mounts (the bit that bolts to the shock tower) for my YZ 10 project, and I'm starting to think they might be a bit rare!
I may resort to making some reproductions, so need the dimensions.
Would someone be kind enough to measure one up for me?
Length and diameter would probably suffice.
It looks like they are probably a full radius on the end, is that right?

Do you have a photo? I'm not a Yokomo expert, but I do have a couple of different alloy wing mounts kicking about.... I was just going to use them on a Mini Mustang project!

The pictures here show the alloy wing mounts pretty clearly.

Let me know if you can help.
Thanks.

wing mounts for 870C are as follows(look like the ones in the link above).

overall length, 16mm
8mm OD
thread on flat end is M3 for mounting to tower
set screw is M3, located at 11mm from mounting face of shock tower.
wire hole is ~2mm, this can be really whatever you want.
the rounded 'bullet' section of the mount is approx 2.25mm long from the end of the mount to the end of the 'round'. essentially has a 4mm radius, nearest I can tell. as long as you put some kind of rounding on the end, no-one would ever know without measuring. The pair I have aren't really machined perfectly, so whatever you get, is probably good enough.

hope that helps.

Nigel,

I've used A&L mounts, they aren't identical but do the same job and work well:

Aren't they making reproduction units in that '91 Worlds Stealth car kit?

Yes, Jake is reproducing them. They're around $200 per pair, but you do get some cool extras with them.

I'm sure he will sell them separately.

How much interest would there be if I were to get a batch of repro ones made?
