Need a servo solution

So my all metal build is proving too much for the servo horn in it. My servo apparently held its own but that resulted in servo horn being stripped entirely on the inside. It was an alloy servo horn probably aluminum. I'm looking for something that is stronger and less likely to strip. I guess im looking for something that is a steel, stainless steel, or titanium servo horn that can be clamped down onto my servo since i dont really know the sizing for servos.

Im not really sure if what im looking for even exists since im not finding anything on my searches except for threads asking this same question.

You are only going to find servo horns in aluminium, but there are many that have a built in clamp to lock it onto the output shaft.

thats pretty much exactly what I had on the car already. It turned the inside of that servo horn smooth.

I've blown out high torque mg servos on my crawlers. Never had an alum horn fail. I would make sure you are using the right horn for your servo. Not saying it isn't possible but I'm impressed the horn went before the servo.

I did use the servo that came with the kit, the problem is that with that servo horn gone, im not sure how to tell which one will fit. I'm open to suggestions.

I can say a problem i did have with the first horn was that the screws included with it seems like they were too short to go through the horn and properly clamp it down.

maybe I can find out what screws its using and find a better version of it. a little extra length wont hurt anything.

Im really glad i documented this servo for what i used in my alloy build. I have absolutely no way to tell what it is. No reciepts, No labels, nothing.

Turnigy MG959 is what it is. It came with a clamping alloy servo horn.

this servo takes a lot of effort to turn when off. Ive tried to move it when its on well, its required a lot more force then im comfortable using since I dont want to break it.

also, this thing is rated at 30kg, thats 1,058 ounces. dont most cars only need like 250 ounces or so?

Hitec's HS-7950TH "Mega Torque" ($150) has a max of 11.4 kg.

you gotta figure this is for my alloy build car that weighs like 10 lbs pretty easy. The servo is probably still overkill but the added force helps.

My only concerns were billet case and metal gears. It just so happened to have a ton of force and be cheap ($30)

guess im just gonna have to use another aluminum servo horn pray it holds.

here is the build thread. And yes, i've run this car in the dirt and over jumps. it really puts a strain on the parts. I'm actually having metal rod ends break where the ball comes out That happened on the link going from the bellcrank to the servo horn and on one of the front caster links. outside of those and the servo horn, the car has held up pretty well. Tearing it back apart has given me the opportunity to finally clean it out some and polish up a few parts again.

That's pretty damn impressive...good work!
My radio has a limiting feature to set how far the servo travels...would that help your horn problems? Keep it from going so far that it strips?
