thorp 48p gearsets fo 6-gear
What's the durability like on them? I picked up a couple basket case goldpans and to my supprise both transmissions have 48p gear sets in them.. I was thinking of using one set in my 6-gear runner 2s lipo with a 13t brushed motor. Think it would hold up?

Re: thorp 48p gearsets fo 6-gear
I always has good luck with the 48p conversion. But I ran them BITD with single turn motors and 7 cell packs. After a while, I switched to the stealth and never looked back. I never broke one of the idler gears in the 48p config. I broke many of the 32 p ones over time. But anything I ran back then does not compare to the brushless power now. I suggest a light trigger finger if you want to make them last. Or have few extra idler gears.

If you do take out a set of idlers, I would look for another set of outdrives and do the old trick of cutting off the output cups and making them into metal idlers.

I could do that, i have two complete gear sets but i'd rather pass one whole set on to someone here and like you said look for another set of outdrives. Maby something with worn out drive cups or something

Those gears work great and I have used mod motors with them with success. Just make sure the press fit gears on the top shaft are super tight.

Re: thorp 48p gearsets fo 6-gear
I have seen some of the outdrives eventually get rounded out where the bone rubs. I have also seen that on some rear axles, so I assume it's not strictly related to the hardening on the thorp stuff. Otherwise, the gears are nice and smooth.
