Do I detect a moment of regret and sadness? :(

Yes indeed, some guy called Paul ;) I thought you would be on here somewhere, now I know who you are hehe.

So yes, customs robbed me big time. They had your name as the importer and recipient too, they wanted your ID to collect the parcel... Just the usual complications then :)

Thanks for all the help by the way :)

Anyway then some photos, not very good, low light, kids munching at my legs etc... They will be better when I start the build.

Everything except CR chell, the litte un is munching on it somewhere in the house.

White steering arms as opposed to black on the CR, not sure why.

Shafts

CR shafts slightly different, MIP? (Paul?) The outdrives look quite new so will probably steal them too.

I'm thinking of getting a brand new chassis to start things off nicely. Will transfer the front arms from the CR and buy some new rears. Probably some new hubs to be picky. Out of the spares I have I think the front arms are standard XX and the rears are CR.

I have some new titanium turnbuckles in blue, also some new RPM rod ends in both blue and black but think I'll go for black as the blue will be too much blue!

Will have to try all 3 transmissions and see how they are for wear although the CR feels the best from a little playing about.
Very nice indeed! I don't think I'll ever get bored of seeing photo's like these. :D

Will look forward to the finished results as well. 8)

Looks like a good haul of cars/parts 8) Certainly plenty to get you building a nice runner & maybe a best one for show?

I think the difference between the shock towers is more the shape - I think the remaining holes in the Kinwald style tower do match up with the holes in the original style one... but they've done away with the holes that nobody used, so was able to streamline the profile. BTW the shell that came supplied with the Kinwald car is the 'Xcellerator' which is the type that (I think) is shown in your first photo.... the CR shell is much more boxy in its appearance
Yep it is an Xcellerator you see, I do prefer the boxy squarer CR shell though :)

The ONLY shock tower to have is the Trinity graphite blue flake one, right Dan? 8)
Oh-yeah! 8)

P.S; I can't quite work out the lower X brace at the front on the Kinwald... there's supposed to be a 'peg' onto which the battery brace clips... but there isn't one present & cannot have been cut-off since the 'GRAPHITE' lettering runs across where this shoud be... I can only guess that its a part that got broken & then replaced with an earlier item (Pre-CR XX) where the batteries were held in with velcro straps?

MIP CVD driveshafts are present on both cars the - ones on the Kinwald are standard to the kit - the CR has shiny CVDs which were available as an option upgrade... for a runner i'd recommend the later items (sold for the XXX) that have a plastic clip over ring that stops the pin falling out doing away with the grub screws which can have a habit of coming loose (even when thread lock is used)

I did notice that yes, wondered the same thing, I'll have to get another one.

Thanks for the shaft info, do you have a part number for the ones I need?

cheers.

Not to my knowledge as I've never seen any....maybe one of the other forum members might know otherwise!

Nope, they didn't do the spindles or carriers I'm afraid. Cedric's Kinwald pretty much sums up all the Trinity blue goodies you can get, but be warned, if you view this thread it may end up costing you a lot of money :D

Or Kenooze's Kinwald race-replica has some super neat touches & probably the ultimate XX build on here (although Jamin's own Graphite is pretty epic) http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=14287

Oh blimey, I had forgotten about that one, but I don't think it has as many trinity parts on it like the link I posted, either way still MIGHTY fine and makes mine look pretty sheepish by comparison. His builds should be stickies at the top of the losi forum or some sort of 'forum favourites' section - somewhere we can go when we are lacking enthusiasm and/or motivation, but not money

Edit: found it here: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=14287
