There were also some conversions that went to a plate style chassis (hot trick, trinity) but I don't know how it would look on a Javelin

The composite rails that Dennis has sound interesting...

Kyosho made an Option House version of the rails, they were machined along their length to save weight. The standard raila are more than strong enough for the job.

What Terry said. I've purchased a lot of Optima (and variants) parts cars and they'd been bashed & abused in many ways, with broken nose braces, bent shock towers, and nearly all had the chin skid-plate bent, but none of them had bent frame rails. The rails run longitudinally, in the same direction as the car travels (either forward or reverse) so any impact forces tend to travel down the length, rather than sideways. I have seen a few bent frame rails on eBay, but those must've taken some extreme abuse to bend them.
Completed projects: CYANide Onroad Optima | Zebra Gold Optima | Barney Optima | OptiMutt RWD Mid
Gallery - Coel's Stalls: Marui Galaxy & Shogun Resto-Mods | FrankenBuff AYK Buffalo | 1987 Buick GNX RC12L3

Interesting part of composite, FRP or other material?I ever hear about Japanese manufacture made them on the market, strong and lightweight.
