Surely we should be a 'shoulder to cry on' if someone on here has to resort to buying one at that price?!slapshot1979 wrote:And when they do we will all laugh at you....I mean whom ever buys it!![]()
Ah I see, I don't recall having that issue, but it was a long time agoDerbyDan wrote: Yes the pins are steel - but from what I remember the actual 'ball' part would wear making it sloppy in the outdrive... I never ran them but I remember my mate & Helger team driver (Matt Course) using them & having this issue.
Regarding the gearbox casing - the usual place where they break is at the front tabs... but I keep coming across them where the 4-40 tapped holes to the rear of the casing are stripped.. I think if the motorplate isn't quite folded right - it puts too much stress on the plastic when you tighten up the screws trying to compress the motorplate so it sits tight together between the T-plate & the G-Box.
Probably explains why they used a different design for the XXX, i.e. an aluminium motor plate and separate plastic motor guard.jamin wrote:Ah I see, I don't recall having that issue, but it was a long time agoDerbyDan wrote: Yes the pins are steel - but from what I remember the actual 'ball' part would wear making it sloppy in the outdrive... Agreed Dan, I don't think any of those plates actually fitted directly, there is always a small amount of pressure required to align the holes so the screws mount through. Then there's the fact that any impact at the rear will stress them also.
Can't wait!jamin wrote:Back on the topic of my build, I need get some more pics posted as its changed a little bit since the last proper post. Kinwald tower, blue nuts, new wing, body all stickered up, and that lovely mk1 milled plate....just some Lunsford quick tune mounts to go...
Based on my current form - you'll have too!LosiXXkid wrote:Cant' wait!
That's how they cameJirka wrote:The motor plate in the last picture is just so shiny that I will have to use sunglasses to look at it.![]()
Jirka
Unfortunately I don't have a NIP euro dirtinatorChillout47 wrote:That is a very fine looking car. Are you going to fit the Dirtinator???
Cheers Dan, yes they are, took me two years to find them, although they've lost most of their adhesive nowDerbyDan wrote:One word Ben....EPIC!! Loving the edition of the XX decals... are they the machine cut ones?
I've got a couple of Euro Dirtinators (the brown labeled ones) - both are used but in decent condition, the best one is earmarked for my new-build car. I did see one NIP for sale recently but as part of a complete CAT2000 race set-up - I couldn't justify the spend to buy it all just for the motor lol!
...... Oh, & I'm now the proud owner of an old style machined/shiney motorplate
