So, whats the best way to prevent this? Keep the belt covers well sealed? What about diff grease, does it eat the belts? Get the tough belts?

Re: OPEN losi xx4 discussion
They all seem to fall apart for any number of reasons.
I'm hoping the new belts for the 22-4 are better somehow.

Re: OPEN losi xx4 discussion
I would blame the front one on dry rot of sorts as you can pull on belt and rebreak it no problem. the other 2 would be dirt buildup on pulleys and running little roller thingys. Last one would be again dirt and a slight thrashing by the guy behind controller

I raced a XX4 for quite a while, as long as my diffs and slipper were good, I never roasted a belt.

Re: OPEN losi xx4 discussion
I did ask while at the iHobby show, and it sounds like the belts for the 22-4 are not the same length.
About the only parts that looked like there might be even a chance to work on the xx4 are the black rubber access cover and and perhaps the battery straps.

Re: OPEN losi xx4 discussion
Too bad about the belts, but there is always a chance that something minor might be able to be changed to make it work. I just pulled apart a Street Weapon that had a XXT steel diff in it, with the Weapon rear gear. Maybe swapping some gears around might work.mytimac wrote:I did ask while at the iHobby show, and it sounds like the belts for the 22-4 are not the same length.

Or not, either way, I'll see what I can do once the kit is out.

Re: OPEN losi xx4 discussion
Well I spent a good 4 hours wrenching time on my xx4 tonight, I love working on this thing. not really doing anything just tweaking.
Is there any news about the 22-4 parts fitting the xx4?
I installed rear sway and was wondering if anyone is running a front one.

Re: OPEN losi xx4 discussion
I own both...and everything in the 22-4, while it looks similar, is not gonna work.
