I just built one of mine! What an enjoyable experience! I built this one as a runner, but it looks so nice, I don't know if I have the guts to run it! One of my rear tires had the Good Year logo scuffed right out of the box, but a little white paint, a fine brush and a steady hand fixed that. Best rere for the value ever, I would recommend this car to all of you vintage RC guys!

Did you have any binding in the dogbones? Curious as quite a few have. I got mine to go away easily.

One side of mine is binding a bit, what is the trick to make it not bind?

All I did was loosen the trans, allow it to center, and retighten. Then I loosened both trailing arm mounts and pulled out and forward (max toe in) and tightened. This made it perfect- no binding. If you look at the original manual they have you do a similar thing with the trailing arm mounts and trans

Two points; One, hack thoiugh it seems, can a bit be ground off the 'ball' on the dogbones to facillitate fit without binding, or is it the pins themselves that hit? (Mine is in pieces to measure stuff.) Two, I notice the body is a pain to mount in the front as the shock towers/top screw heads make it hard to get the bod on the tub- Am I the only chap experiencing this or? I plan to do frt. towers with some additional features and will space them out a tad if it's common. Thanks Gents, Chris REC

As for mounting the body, the front towers are a bit narrow for the body, but just pinch the nose of the body a bit and push past the towers. I suppose you could also bend the aluminium towers out a bit, but lexan flexes easy!

Could it be that the bend in the chassis rails, which creates the bowed out metal at the point of the bend, causes a little bit of toe-in (bottom to top) of the front shock mounts which reduces the spacing between them at the top? If so, filing down the rails to make the bend point flatter might help (possibly at the expense of some rigidity at the bend point). Or add a spacer/washer to space out the shock mount and avoid hitting the chassis bend in order to keep the mounts more vertical and parallel to each other.

The front of the body is kind of a tight fit, but if you think about it, with the battery compartment underneath, you don't need to remove the body very often.

Ah! But it's the IMPERFECTNESS of it! Stuff like this bugs me. My Dad used to say "You'd complain if you were hung with a new rope." Which I have never really understood, maybe he meant this kinda thing.

I just figure, whilst I'm about it, if there is a little something that can be done to improve something, why not- I got a blank sheet of paper. Looks like they'll have an integrated servo saver/tower support too. (I know Lexan bends easily, but I have girlie hands.) Chris REC

Dwayne (dwyz250) on eBay has previously made front shock towers with spacer plates to widen them out 2mm or so (1mm each side I think it was).

Dat's pretty much the idear, but one solid piece. A hole in the tower will accept a crossbeam that also attaches to the top of the servo saver, to rigidify the whole front end. It's drawn, parts coming within the week hopefully (?) I'm watching a Scorp thread on 2 other sites, and this one has the most activity so you're the chaps I'm listening to most, Hint! Chris REC

They should have counter sunk the holes for the front shock tower and made it slightly thicker material to offset the potential of it becoming weaker.

I do wonder if I can get away with not using the upper deck.

Mine just arrived today, and I'm going on vacation tomorrow, so my build will have to wait, but I'm thinking different body, and just a flat plate and go from there.
