I got this TF-3 off ebay and its missing a few parts and a few scratches but otherwise in excellent shape. The front oneway bearing was toast so I removed it from the front drive gear and I'm waiting for a new one from china. These are extremely rare and parts are just as rare and expensive. There are no manuals listed online so to speak of so I'm going into this resto blind. If anyone has one or an exploded view they could scan and post I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one grateful.
My main problem is that it has no spur gear hub. I was hoping that someone could steer me in the direction of an alternative. my thoughts were that I could use an aluminum 4mm I.D. hub with grub screw. I don't think the lay shaft that came with the car is the right one so I would be willing to modify it to work. if someone knows of a part that might work for me I would appreciate any help
Spares for this car mostly start with SP or OT. Optional parts with SPW. Unfortunately the part numbers are both for the Spider GP and TF-2/3, so you need a parts list to figure out what fits where. I can scan one of mine, but be prepared to wait for a while until I get around to it.
If you can find part BV-3H, those are the super-though hard fiber-loaded versions of the arms (if you manage to break those you're doing it wrong...). Other useful options are the alloy hinge pin blocks, alloy motor mount (SPW-13), and blue steering arms.
front one-way unit = W-5111
For the layshaft, the following will fit:
- SP-13 main shaft
- SPW-8 Center oneway (shaft + center oneway)
- SPW-9 2-speed shift changer (the layshaft you have may be from this one - hold on to it, as it's the part that's hardest to get)
- SPW-14 hyper clutch set
Aftermarket parts that fit are:
- Cross layshaft + spur holder for the TF-2
- Team Atlas layshaft for the TF-2/3
The front shocks should attach to the hinge pins, by the way. Based on the front body mount, I think this is the TF-3 chassis that came with a McLaren GT-1 body.
thanks for the good info, I had a suspicion the lay shaft was for a two speed so I guess I will have to preserve it and not modify it. Im pretty patient and frugal so the hunt begins.
I purchased this off a friend along with a couple of other cars and was wondering if anybody can tell me what it is..age etc:..it is in very good condition I think it was only run a few times..

Those came out in 1985 or so IIRC. I have some Tower Hobbies catalogs from that time period that list it.
I have a Kyosho Nimitz-.06 Buggy that's what I'd consider the 'father' of your Datsun Stepside (got it new as a Christmas present many years...
Hi all, found this amoungst several other cars I had in the loft given to me years ago, just wondered if anyone had a clue what it is? Main chassis is plastic and the top deck is frp.
Any ideas chaps?

I thought the Lazer Sport came with a Kelron top deck and chassis (at least, mine did)?
Some time ago I got this Kyosho 4WD but have no clue what it is. I have no box or manual. Someone said it´s a TF2 but the pictures I saw were different.
This one is full graphite, front oneway and universals. Someone knows this car and what year...

So is it anything special, worth for keeping? At least looks very good and beside some dust it´s new never run.
Actually I´m only into pancars currently but who knows.
I have an old Kyosho buggy that was given to me mostly disassembled in a shopping bag a bunch of years ago, and after looking at some of the builds on here, I thought I would have a look at it and see how much was missing. Turns out it is mostly...

I never would have put it together if I hadn't found this forum, thanks guys. The rear diff will need a rebuild I think, it slips pretty bad, and the idler in the transmission looked pretty worn too. I might have to throe some electrics in it this...
