It won't take long to re drill that motor plate for gearing options. Pretty crazy they would go to the troubles to update it and leave the motor position fixed, but I'm not complaining!

I'm not the biggest Kyosho fan but I sure wouldn't mind having one as a running shelfer. Especially at the $219 price, this might be my first Kyosho.

Just saw this for the first time (haven't been on here for a while) great to see Kyosho doing a re release! Lets hope they do the Optima, they'd be silly not to I reckon, I'd definitely grab one!

I love and at the same time hate the fact that RC companies are re-releasing older kits. It's funny, just a few years ago we NEVER would have thought any of these kits would come out again. And now everything from the Avante to the Bruiser to the RC10 has come back. I'm gonna need this Scorpion. All kinds of ideas are running through my head already. I'm hoping they re-re the Tomahawk and Optima too. Also wouldn't mind a more obscure model like the Progress...

I am done with 1/10 because of the re-release band wagon we are seeing. There is no point collecting rare old cars and parts just to see new versions released at discount prices from China. And now Kyosho are getting involved. Oh dear.

I've gone back to vintage 1/8 scale 1980s racers. Even the original market was niche. Most people today couldn't even name the vintage 1/8 cars before the Burns and 99.9% didn't own them. So there is zero chance of any re-release rip offs. Exclusivity is the way forward. I also love how damn well made everything in 1/8 is. For example a diff is a proper machined complex metal beauty, like a miniature real car item, rather than a 1/10 toy plastic cog with some washers.

I raced a Gephard III against SGs & PB Mustang Xis... the PBs were lighter,
nimbler & fragile so my tank just ran right thru them when they got in the way.
(not too bad a strategy to podium the B-Main, IMHO...)

I just bought a brand new in box Garbo Gepard iii, new Rossi engine, plus all the NIP spares I could find. It was my favourite ever vintage 1/8. I only ever ran a PB Xi2 back in the day as I could not afford the G at the time. Although some components are identical, such as their stunning diffs and three piece wheels. The much stronger chassis and welded cage are awesome on the G though :)

Depends why you have them,money later or memories now. I personally would love a scorpion but I am stopping with the worlds .. :mrgreen:

I bought the RC10 originally for the memories. However after quite a while messing with parts and building, I really got the RC10 bug out of my system. Also after the re-release craze the prices I paid for original parts has nose dived. So lesson learned and I will not be repeating this again. Hence why I am out of 1/10 for good. They are now too common and nothing is going to be safe from Chinese rip offs. Too much money to be made out of the common models. Therefore the fun of finding rare old parts is now clearly a waste of time in 1/10. Neither do I wish to support the Chinese take over. So I'll happily get my nostalgia with a slice of chunky 1/8 engineering instead. With the added bonus of no issues of over popularity or financial waste down the road. Harsh, but that is how I feel. I am very happy to have switched over. Bring on the noise, smoke and fun :)

Collecting RC cars is a Hobby - don´t think You´ll see it listed in any investment plan :lol:

I guess every company provides what the majority of their customers want - I don´t think they re-issue the RC classics to annoy anybody.

Don´t be surprised if they re-release the worlds meanest 1/8 nitro offroad - The Integra 8)

I think NIP parts will recover after the hype is over and in a few years it will be almost the same as before unfortunately...

The disappointment in the rereleases causing prices on originals to nosedive is not so much a part of an investment strategy it's more like paying full price for something then seeing it on sale for a third of its original price.

Of course it is never an investment. But having an ocean of repro parts at a fraction of the price makes it pointless. Not making money is one thing (which I never intended to do). But outright losing loads is another all together. I am just glad I only had one 1/10th car. Also the added cool / proud factor of finding or building up previously rare 1/10 cars now totally vanishes. So it takes away a whole part of the hobby. What is the point spending a year finding every old Optima part now (for example), just to find they will re-relase it in a year for anyone to click and buy for next to nothing in comparison. If I had a large collection of vintage 1/10 I'd be dumping them before the repros inevitably arrive. Each to their own though... :)

I know what You mean and that´s why I´ve never bought a Javelin cage.
If I can´t find the parts I need at a reasonable price, I don´t buy them.

If there´s an expensive part I can´t live without, I buy it and pay the silly money it costs - But as soon as it´s been paid for, it devalues money wise and becomes an object of shear lust :mrgreen:

I once bought a new VW transporter, it lost 9 K in 5 months - This was my last new car :wink:

About 6 months before the re-release of the SRB, a NIB Sand Scorcher sold for over $5000 in eBay. I wonder if that guy still feels he made a wise purchase
