optima front hub ot-55 replacement? 73m la-257 replacement?
Alrighty, has anybody figured out a suitable replacement for good ole ot-55 front c hub? possibly ta03 or cc01 tamiya c hub? I checked ta01 c hub and its cartoonishly large! What about zx5 fs front assembly?
On the same page,, any suggestion for a uj or cv axle measuring approx 101mm total length,, or 73mm from pin to pin?
Thanks!

You might look into Tamiya TA05 hubs & knuckles, I used these for my OptiMutt build. Bear in mind that they require Kyosho Maxxum front arms, which are a direct swap for Optima & Mid front arms; they're just longer, but have deeper C-carrier notches. Also, I didn't fit these for use with CVD's, but I have a pretty good feeling the overall fit is quite close to stock.
I believe 3Racing makes 73mm CVDs with 5mm straight axles (these require crosspins and 12mm hexes, they won't work with Optima-style tapered hexes); I'll update tomorrow with the part number as I don't have it on hand at the moment.

Finding replacement OT-55 c-hubs shouldn't be that hard, Kyosho used them right until about 2000 on their TF-1 to TF-3 cars. TF-4 has optional c-hubs that are backwards compatible with OT-55. GPM makes (or made) an alloy version of those c-hubs (these http://www.asiatees.com/ask?description=TF4+hub&search_location=bot) .rccars4sal wrote:Alrighty, has anybody figured out a suitable replacement for good ole ot-55 front c hub? possibly ta03 or cc01 tamiya c hub? The ZX-5 c-hubs should physically fit, but you may have to modify the arms a little bit.

Re: optima front hub ot-55 replacement? 73m la-257 replacem
Thanks for the info! I had found ot-55s on ebay but at the cheapest 15 bucks a set on up to 15 bucks for 1 or 30 bucks a set. Realistically, I need like 4 sets so a cheaper option is called for. Looks like the gpm part is a good match, and I shall investigate the tf4 connection further. i know my own stash of tf4/kx1 parts has a similar hub, but not backwards compatible.
Im needing these for kyosho and yokomo,, and another project,, so the location of the hinge pin at the base of the hub is important.
As for the cv axle,,,, I have found la257 for about 50 dollars,, way too much. The above mentioned kyosho swing shaft is a good alternative but cost again is a factor.
Needing these for both kyosho and yokomo projects again,, and another top secret project too.

Sadly...........nothing inexpensive with Kyosho these days. The 3racing part mentioned above might be helpful. There price seems reasonable for sure.rccars4sal wrote:As for the cv axle,,,, I have found la257 for about 50 dollars,, way too much. I think the TF-4 parts are the SPW-101 optional c-hubs. Another part that fits is SPW-33 for the TF-3, but it's rare, expensive, and you'll need different axles due to the different offset.rccars4sal wrote:Thanks for the info! I found spw 101 on ebay, but its not backwards compatible. Has only 1 hole for lower pin, designed for the longer arms. Got me a set of great vigor beagle c hubs for 10 bucks!

In that case, you need SP-101 (the stock part). I should have checked before writing "SPW-101"rccars4sal wrote:I found spw 101 on ebay, but its not backwards compatible. Has only 1 hole for lower pin, designed for the longer arms. Got me a set of great vigor beagle c hubs for 10 bucks!

Do you really need new parts? If not, I could have a look through my spares and see what I can find.
