Remove RIT die
Remove RIT die
I'm restoring a 1/12th scale Bolink Renegade. All the delrin pieces have been died with what I presume is RIT die. A process we used to make the plastic pieces look good. Unfortunately; I want to remove it to get the factory look back. I don't even know if this is possible. does anyone have any ideas. Or; am I just screwed?

Re: Remove RIT die
the parts you have that are dyed are nylon. Delrin is not readily dye-able. Unfortunately, the dye in about 99% of cases is NOT removable, so you are stuck with what you have, or dye it to a darker color.

Re: Remove RIT die
RIT makes a dye remover but it's probably not going to be too effective at removing the color; it's more for uncoloring nylon clothing.

Re: Remove RIT die
Yeah you are pretty much screwed if the parts have been dyed. One thing to note however is that Delrin (acetal) is quite dyeable. I have used it for nearly 25 years, and dyed it on many occasions. Maybe you had something else (jwscab) you mistook for Delrin?
Re: Remove RIT die
Thnx guys. Not even sure if I have the right parts know. I thought they were Bolink. Then Associated. Now I'm not sure either way. I've found good pics of the Associated. It's not them. I need to find pics of original Bolink. Until then, I'm not sure.
