Interesting... now the question is, buy a re-re, or grab an original (or two) for less during the inevitable collector sell-off?

Just like with the Sand Scorcher, I'll pic up one or two of the re-re's but I'm glad I have a few of the originals! It will be interesting to see the differences between the original and the re-re. Hopefully they make the parts slightly different like AE did with the RC10 so collectors aren't tooooo pissed. I wonder if the Beetle will come at a later date!?

The only week point is the railsCoelacanth wrote:I've never owned a Scorpion so I don't know what the weaknesses of the car were, but hopefully they would be addressed. The shocks & shock collars, easily bendable front shock tower and gearbox would probably all be weak links. If I were to buy one, I'd hope it would survive a reasonable modern electronics system.
I also hope it won't be ridiculously expensive...which it might be, if Kyosho indeed had to re-make all the molds, as the rumor was that all the molds were destroyed for their classics.

Hah...I can already envision the pissed-off hoarders of ludicrously-priced Javelin rollcages if they ever made THAT announcement.Puffdogg wrote:I wonder if the Javelin is coming as well?

WOW, who saw that coming!
Great News!!!
Can't wait for more information, just went thru the 50th Anniversary book on their site, nice to see them recognizing the classic cars.

Nothing in this day and age seems to be sacred anymore. As more of a collector I'm not a big fan of re-releases and thought Kyosho was immune to it but definitely understand the appeal and intent.RC10resto wrote:Well, that's it nothing is sacred![]()

I'm surprised they waited this long to do a re re, they had to see the sales Tamiya have made with their re re's.
I had to take a double take at this post when i read it, honestly I was kind of shocked, I've spent way too much on parts for these cars, but on the other hand an original is still an original, a re re will be a re re. The only thing I will watch out for is original cars with re re parts.
I'll buy a re re, if anything just to run the crap out of it and not worry about broken parts

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
and just last year at RCX, a nice man in the Kyosho booth said "no re-releases, at Kyosho we look forward not backward"
hmmm, reminds me of several people at AE back in 2009 that said never on a re-re
Maybe I need to start collecting money, at least I already know they will re-release that

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Interesting. I would love to have a re-release Scorpion. It would be nice to have much of the aluminum chassis and (as Coelacanth said) addressing the originals weaknesses, newly designed shocks an a modern electronics system..awesome!
Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
They didn't really survive a period electronics system, including old 27 turn motors, very well.Coelacanth wrote:I've never owned a Scorpion so I don't know what the weaknesses of the car were, but hopefully they would be addressed. We used to modify the cars and put them on a diet to get them just under 3lbs.
Diffs needed rebuilt constantly, dog bones were always falling out shocks were pretty poor.
But I loved those cars !

It would be amazing if Kyosho also re-re'd a line of Option House parts as upgrades. Ball diff, SC-108 castor locks, and CB-88 shocks.
