My cut down chassis
My cut down chassis
I needed to cut the sides down on my chassis to repair the damage done by the previous owner. Does this look ok? I took a pencil and drew several variations on the side until I came up with this. I thought that less cutting the better. I had first thought that I was going to cut down the whole side then I thought to my self....WHY?? Now I have to find a way to blend in the bare metal.
Here's before And here is my mod.

Re: My cut down chassis
Maybe continue your cut lines:
The cut edge will look fine silver, that's the way a "team" cut would look. Now you'll have to add a bunch of period hop-ups to make it all work out.
Or keep an eye out for an uncut chassis...

Re: My cut down chassis
I had it drawn out just like that at first. The more I looked at it the more I decided that it really didn't need to be cut that much. It may end up being an odd looking buggy....but it will be my own. LOL

Re: My cut down chassis
if you'd have asked before and mentioned not wanting to cut much, I 'd have told you to use the ' chinese carbon' trick
But since you got this fare already I'd agree with temple here.

The search function seems to have limited use these days (it doesn't find older posts)Erich Reichert wrote:Mr. ED wrote:if you'd have asked before and mentioned not wanting to cut much, I 'd have told you to use the ' chinese carbon' trick![]()

Anyhow, the "Chinese Method" refers to faux carbon fiber, a'la CF decal material. The term first came to use a long time ago in rc10talk, but I can't find the original post. It might have been in the self purging bst.
