I usually check a motors timing marks before I go into them, buuuut, this time I forgot somehow. The only technical thing Im familiar with about motors, is cutting the Comms. Which is how this got started in the first place.

Purchased a Novak Ballistic 17.5/GTB2 combo so I could race in the 17.5 class. My motor came from the factory with 30degrees of timing already set, and from what I read they do not recommend going down to 0.

Does anyone have experience with this...

I'm using a novak ballistic 13.5 turn motor. Gearing is 21 pinion 88 spur. I left the timing dial on the end bell alone. Its set at 30 degrees. But I have people getting past me in the straight a ways. Not terrible fast, but still getting by me....

Having just purchased my first brushless motor, I have some questions about timing.

Is it basically like automotive timing where it can be both advanced and retarded? I've fiddled with the adjustable timing gear and distributor timing on my Honda...

My ESC is an X-Car 120a, the clone of a Hobbywing Xerun, so much so that the operating manual for the X-Car is a Hobbywing link.
