I finished cutting the idler gear. I was going to cut down the teeth on the differential, but I think it's more trouble than it's worth, considering how heavy the rest of the diff is.

I designed a chassis to be 3d printed but I'm not willing to pay $100 for a chassis that I'm not sure of.
I bought a lot of b4 parts on eBay that includes a truck chassis, so I think I'll narrow that down and call it a day. I'm also thinking about milling out the inside of the battery tray down about 1.5mm to lower the battery. That will elminate the wire tunnel, but I can live with that.

Well guys, I got cold feet. I put the stock top shaft back in, rebuilt the car in stock rs configuration and I'm probably going to sell it. The reason being that the entire purpose of this buggy was to become my main race machine.
My last racer was a b3, and I've been pretty happy with being a generation behind. I purchased the b4 for the same reason, now that the b5 is coming out.
I didn't do enough research at the beginning, and without a definite plan of attack, little was accomplished and this turned into a waste of money. I saw myself starting to sway towards wanting a mid motor configuration, and I almost bought an x-6 squared conversion kit. However, if I want a mid motor buggy, why not buy a purpose built, modern mid motor buggy? For the same amount of money, or less, I could pick up a nice dex210, or even a b5m.
I was caught on the "the last of the old is better than the first of the new" mentality and that has severely blinded me.
I need to take a step back and think about it. I suppose I still have a couple months to decide before I bring the b3 back out and become "that guy" at the track trying to be competitive with a nearly 20 year old design.
