My Works '91..... thats a Works '92
Thought i'd better get round to sharing some of my cars with you all. This is my Works '91. Its an ex UK Team drivers car. It has the drescher top deck, mms alloy heatsink motor mount and nylon front gear box case, and fastrax ballraced front alloy c-hubs.
Haven't really felt the need to do too much too it, the more you change, the less of the original car it becomes and loses the history. So its had new wheels and rear shocks, as both had seen much much better days, and thats all. Anyways, enjoy the pics....

Very nice...
You sure that's not a '92 Works? The front tower is from the '92 (the outer profile of the tower curves inward. In the '91 Works, the outer profile does not curve inward). The rear tower may also be. Plus, the belts are 3mm pitch on your chassis.

Re: My Works '91
Great to see this car assembled Tim.
The paint job is clean and is reminiscent of the times. The top deck is the Jammin Jay version I believe. Same design as the Drescher top deck, just made from a different material (always carbon fiber but not the weave version). Those Fastrax hubs are really nice.
As Stickboy alluded to, your car features some of the parts from the Works '92. These items could have been added by the owner or you could have a genuine Works '92
I can't see the rear hubs properly but if they are the later versions (same as '93 Works and '94 YZ10), then more than likely it is a Works '92.

Hadn't even noticed the belt pitch, minds elsewhere! when i say elsewhere, its on a box of goodies somewhere within the british postal service that i'm waiting on, pics to follow soon hopefully.......
I'll get a couple of better pic's of the front and rear towers for you.
The rear hubs was going to be my next question
They definately aren't from a '91, much bulkier, will post a pic later.
Anything else obvious i need to check re the '91 or '92 question?

Nothing else comes to mind. The only differences I am aware of are:
rear hubs
front tower
rear tower
belt pitch
rear hubs
front tower
rear tower
belt pitch

This might be a dumb question but is this the car Masami raced in 4wd class in the Detroit worlds in 91?

Re: My Works '91
Rear hub carriers are definitely '92 Works. Rear tower appears to be '92 Works. The main difference I've been able to tell between the '91 and '92 rear towers is that the '91 rear towers are flat at the top of the outer "ear" portion where the shock mounts, whereas the '92 slopes downward slightly in this region, which is what yours are doing.
Re: My Works '91
Hey flustorm, nothing from epay this time! But 2 new members are expected to be joining my yokomo family soon, ones a pavidis
the other was described as 'possibly a works 91/92/93, possibly not'
so i'm not really sure whats going to turn up!! The pic i got sent didn't really help much either but i took a punt anyway.....

Re: My Works '91
Cheers Stickboy, so are we saying my '91's probably a '92!? and is this a good or bad thing... for me bad because i wanted and thought i'd got a '91 but good because i get an excuse to go shopping for a '91 again.
While your on form, any info' about the front shock tower below? Came in a box of '91 bits and pieces i picked up a while ago.

Re: My Works '91
It is either a '91 Works that has been upgraded to '92 spec, or it's a '92 works that was sold as a '91 by somebody who didn't know better. Either way, I would say you have a '92 Works. Considering how the '92 is less common than the '91, I would call it a good thing.
The shape of that shock tower is consistent with the '91, but there are three extra mounting holes (the bottom ones). My guess is it is an aftermarket '91 tower.

Re: My Works '91
I have the same shock towers as timmy, looking through an old parts list (compiled by someone in 91) it seems to say that these part no's are for the 91?? I assume whoever compiled the list is wrong as my 91 manual clearly shows a different standard setup for the shock tower as you guys mentioned...which thanks to you guys I only just noticed are now not 91 towers on my 91!...doh...
if u zoom in you can see the part list no's that match the actual NIP parts...well these are the replacements as I have the NIP on my car...but they are exactly the same shape...and not carbon fibre like the front one shown here and the 91 manual...
so I am confused??

Re: My Works '91
I got a works 92, I never notice the difference between the 91' and the 92' shock towers,
but mine are the same as yours.
So it will be a 92' i suppose.
The significant difference between those 2 models (for me) is the transmission size.
Tooth of belts and diff. pulley are smallest on the 92'.
