They are spacers for the bearings after you dremel off some material from the diff. halves.stickboy007 wrote:So that's what the diff kit is for. I have one that came with an RCPS steering brace, and wasn't sure how to use it. What do you do with those two metal tubes in the diff kit?

Well, that's another question I had actually! My 870c had tubes already and no ridges to grind. In fact that's what is shown in the manual as well. Were there different versions of the diffs for the YZ10 variation?

Wish I could get my builds under way. I really like the primitive, solid, functional design of these 870c models. I would love to run one against my best mid on a track and see how they compare!

Not completely sure I follow there. Do you have a picture you can reference?

Re: Cause I don't have enough going on....YZ870 edition
apparently some or most YZ10 diff outdrives have a flange on them that the bearing rides against. To install these you need to grind off that flange. My diffs did not have a flange, instead they had a longer tube than the one with the diff kit. Just slip it onto the outdrive on the long side.

A few sub assemblies waiting for bulkheads. I don't think I can run the double flange pulley in the rear but we will see
Oh, and the turnbuckles are the lunsford retro buckles

Got my magnesium back today, quick clear coat and back together with new rubber isolators, new belts, and lots of other new bits. Now I need to source some clean associated shocks and figure out what tires I want to put on her
Oh, and there were enough leftover bits to put another chassis back together LOL

I think that you need to send a set of AE shocks to be media-blasted too....match that Magnesiumgomachv wrote:Got my magnesium back today, quick clear coat and back together with new rubber isolators, new belts, and lots of other new bits. Re: Cause I don't have enough going on....YZ870 edition
Im still not sold on the associated shocks. Ive got a set of grey asso shocks, some gold asso shocks,, and some of the greyish purple yokomo shocks to try on my builds. But the Kyosho golds I recently built are calling to me. I havent really torn into my project cars much yet. Are they a mixture of metric and sae hardware?

If your referring to the gold shocks they are metric. If you mean the Yok, they are a mixAre they a mixture of metric and sae hardware?
I am a huge fan of kyosho shocks, but not on something like this. It was more common to run Associated on these Dogs, so that's what she will get. I am not huge on cross breeding brands. Not sure about media blasted either- it would make it a whole lot easier for sure! I'll try for fresh bodies first and if nothing turns up I have lots of ugly wore out ones to try to blast.

We'll, I tried...but gave up at $40. Never expected they would go that high! My white YZ10 wheels may make it into the car...or my Imex hubcap wheels. Hmmm

A pink set of Yokomo 2.2" front and rear wheels usually fetch near $100. These wheels are very rare and have the correct offset for the RC10 and Team Associated import YZ10.
They were not meant to be used on the newer works cars or yz10's.
