Anyone swap a 2.40 trans into an RC10?

Post by Johnboy72 »

I've been searching and opting for the easy way out. Everyone at the track keeps telling me I need a 2.40 stealth. I'm currently running the 2.65 RPM trans but it would help me make gearing decisions quicker if I was running the same trans as everyone else.

do you have a calculator on your phone? 2.65 to 2.4 is a ratio of roughly 90% So if they say they are running a 23 tooth pinon, you can achieve the same affect by increasing the pinion by 10%, or go to a 25 or 26 tooth gear.

spur/pinion x trans ratio = final drive ratio.

so say the competition is running a 87 tooth spur, 23 tooth pinion. 87/23 =3.78, x 2.4 = 9.07

same 87 tooth spur, 25 tooth pinion. 87/25 = 3.48 x 2.65 = 9.22
OR
same 87 tooth spur, 26 tooth pinion 87/26 = 3.346 x 2.65 = 8.86

if you get really ambitious you could swap spur and pinion to get an even closer match.

Have a calculator for the transmission now. But this 2.40 is still calling my name.
