Team Losi JRX-2 25th Anniversary
In case we've all forgotten, this year (2013), is the 25th Anniversary of the original release of the JRX-2 kit. I can't remember the month of release but my guess is that it was probably during the summer. I always wanted a JRX-2 after seeing one being raced at my, then, local club at the Viables Craft Centre in Basingstoke (UK). I did eventually get a XX, which I still have but I'll never forget that first encounter with the JRX-2.
In the unlikely event that TLR are about to spring a very nice surprise on all us Losi fans by re-re'ing the JRX-2 in time for Christmas, I for one think that they have missed out on a significant mile stone in RC history.
We can but hope!

Completely agree. I'd love to have a re-re to add to my Losi collection.

Re: Team Losi JRX-2 25th Anniversary
Gotto say its been quite cool running my JRX2 in its anniversary year - with all the 'hub-bub' surrounding the RC10 re-release - everyone knows about the RC10 with its distinctive gold tub chassis & shocks, but amongst the racers that have a casual interest in the vintage stuff - i've been amazed at how many couldn't identify the RC10's old arch-rival

I think this thread also serves as to its popularity...

While I would love to see a Re-re JRX2, not sure I could pick one up so soon after purchasing the RC-10 Re-re. I would hope that Losi would make it a non limited release so we could all build up some more R/C funds.

Re: Team Losi JRX-2 25th Anniversary
One thing that makes the Current trend of Tamiya Re Re cars so popular is that they are all crazy designs, different and cool. Losi hd already distilled the rc race car to a simple and effective design,, slightly boring, but highly effective. Not much good for a re re. I doubt it would happen. Theres a few good reasons to keep cranking updated versions of the xx4,, not least of which is it was and is the best 4wd buggy EVER. Plus,, it has a cool, complex and quirky design. Perfect for re re or update re design as it may be.

Re: Team Losi JRX-2 25th Anniversary
The JRX2 did have its fairly unique 5-link suspension set-up (although a design it shares with the Avante ~ i'm not which came first?) But generally it only holds reverence for those who were serious racers around the time of its release back in 1988. What I've noticed with sites like Tamiyaclub.com is that the RC10 seems popular & well loved, even with those that are not (or were) racers, Its this 'collector' market that supports all the Tamiya re-res that will bolster the sales of the RC10 Classic also. The JRX2 just doesn't have that kind of following.

If memory serves me correctly, everyone was saying this, and more, about the RC10 not so long ago.........and now look! RC10 fever all over again...rccars4sal wrote:.......... I doubt it would happen...........

How about a re-re of the Kinwald edition XX!? That would be cool for sure!

Re: Team Losi JRX-2 25th Anniversary
I think they aught to re re the 5 link rear end on a slightly more modern molded frp buggy. Competition spec in a retro design. That would be cool. Even better if it were 4wd.

True, but I believe AE kept the molds, whereas Losi did not. IIRC, Sabula Tech tried to find information about getting hold of some of the molds and was told they no longer existed.

Re: Team Losi JRX-2 25th Anniversary
After recently seeing the original box art on this site it reminded me of a memory dating way back. I actually remember seeing a JRX-2 box up on the shelf at my LHS back in the day. I never saw the actual car built up in real life though. I was too into 1/8th at the time to afford any more toys and distractions! But I do recall having a passing exchange with the hobby shop owner when I asked about the new display box. He simply said something along these lines..."This JRX-2 is a proper race car. You either buy this or a graphite RC10". So his obvious respect for these 2WD models and seeing our UK magazines full of USA born 2WD racers definitely planted the seed all those years ago.
