That was...odd. I can't comprehend the thrill of "driving" that thing. Might be a good warm-up routine for the Olympic hammer throw, maybe.

Looking at it again I think there is a platform on the pole for him to jump onto... less humorous then imagining him having to leap over the line but... oh well :)

I would imagine he is guiding it until centrifugal force takes over then getting out of the way on his little perch.

how do they throttle up? is the throttle controlled through the cable? with enough fuel to do a few laps and then flame out?

these tethered cars just reminded me of when i was kid and flew control line airplanes. those things were a blast to fly.
