$200 later

I have a few boxes full of crap. The adventures of Ebaying :|

This has been the worste ebay transaction I have Ever had.
I find a listing that was a Lot of vintage Rc cars. Kyosho USA 1 , Futaba Fx10,Tamiya monster Beetle parts truck, misc radio gear and junk.

The seller was new at Ebay, got the shipping price all wrong. Needed more money to ship the boxes. Everyday it was a new shipping price, from USPS , FED X , UPS. It was originally 2 boxes, then the seller crammed it all in to one box (poor packing, damaged parts) I send money thru paypal for shipping. Didnt hear from the seller for a few days. Then one day i get an Email stating its been shipped (seller just made a shipping lable.) I noticed it was going to my old Address. After I won the auction, I Emailed and wrote the seller on Ebay that it needs to be shipped to my new address, I even sent it in a text. The seller said it'd be sent to my new address . ( paypal hadnt been updated because i just moved, new address cant be confirmed yet ) I contact the seller telling her that she used my old address, turns out its her BOYFRIEND thats dealing with me . HE said that he'd correct it, that only a shipping lable was made , it hadnt been shipped. She messages me saying that she cannot change the address ,that it was a done deal. It was being sent to that address. For 3 days they both knew itd be sent to the wrong address. Box is picked up and sent . I had to call UPS 4 times before someone finally told me that the box can be held at a hub so i can pick it up. It couldnt be re routed .I had to make a 2 hr trip to go pick it up. So by the time i spend gas money, im in to this by $200.00 Better hope the purchase was worth it 8)

THE BOX : Horribly packed.Kyosho USA 1 lexan body was crushed, FX10 body was crushed. The stub axels on the Monster Beetle and USA 1 poked holes thru the box. The box had holes to start with, screws and parts were falling out as I picked it up

The kyosho USA1 has a cracked frame, could have had it before shipping.Crushed lexan body. Other than that its salvageable.Ill fix and keep.

The Futaba FX10 . Has busted rear shock mounts. Crushed lexan body.
Other than that, complete and salvageable. Ill fix and keep.

Tamiya monster Beetle. Good parts truck. Has a busted rear shock mount as well. Missing one of the gold rims. Lost interest in it, will be sold.

There was a pile of Nikko frame buggy or Radio shack golden arrow parts . Didnt receive all the parts and controller ( Seller musta thought i wouldnt notice.. It wasnt listed in the listing, i just saw the parts in the pile) The parts i do have will be sold.

There was misc rims / tires , motors , chargers. Also didnt get all the radios ,or batteries that were pictured.

Out of the mess I got a decent Fx10 project, USA 1 project. some futaba receivers,Futaba transmitters, few good sets of rims/tires. A set of used Edinger Rear Rc10 tires.

In the listing, the seller stated that they all "GO" but would be a project or parts. Not a one of them showed any signs of life!

Think im gonna part out some of it and make up some money. Im not too upset over it, I did get a USA 1 and a FX10. Who knows, i migh save the beetle to build a basher Frog. Always wanted one of them too.

So what junk have you bought ? Share your story!

Sounds like you got a pretty bad deal. Dealing with eBay it really can be a case of buyer beware. Personaly I'd contact the seller/s and tell them what has happened to the cars due to their improper packing technique. Threaten them with negative feedback if needed and see if that persuades them at all.

Seriously, this stuff shouldn't go on and it's not just hurting your back pocket but damaging what might otherwise be classic old r/c gear that might have been used rather than binned.

I've been able to negotiate partial refunds from sellers when I was able to prove without any doubt that their listing description was incorrect or if their packaging resulted in major damage. They're responsible for safe shipping of the items you win because you won intact items, not broken ones. You'll need to prove that the damage was caused by the improper packaging, not the usual bumps & bruises from the shipping process. Maybe try to get back a third or quarter of the purchase price? Good luck.

Today I received a Kyosho Triumph 'parts bag #6' that I purchased a couple weeks ago. The seller listed the item as "new and unopened". The parts bag should have contained the bumper, battery box and straps, and tranny under cover that I need to complete my Triumph resto.

Well... it arrived today and all of the stuff I just listed was missing from the bag, and some of the parts have been removed from the existing parts trees in the bag. It's obviously been opened and restapled to appear new. I'm bummed because I really thought I had finally scored the parts I've been searching so hard for...

I guess the silver lining is that I did get some parts that will be nice to have (new bulk heads, new rear arms, one new front arm). Just sucks that people feel they need to be dishonest to sell their stuff.

If its ever suspected that major BS is taking place, make sure you take lots of pictures from right when you receive the package. Preferably before its even opened if there are already signs of physical damage. Also contact the seller about it. If they aren't willing to work with you than leave them negative feedback and contact eBay. Me personally, I'm tired of being Mr. Nice Guy with these undeserving sellers. Buying used items off of eBay has become really crappy now as a whole and as such, I'm very rarely ever completely happy with a purchase.

The part that really pi#$es me off is whan the item does arrive, "Significantly not as described", the seller gets an "out" by offering a refund, less the postage, meaning they get to re-list/resell the item, and the poor buyer who has done nothing wrong is out 2 x the postage cost $$...

The eBay system sux..

Let me share with you my recent experience, which involves both an eBay purchase going awry, and a big pile of junk!

Won a lot on eBay Thursday night, pickup only back where I used to live. No worries, worked out a deal with a mate locally to do a pickup for me. Was a large lot of stuff (Slash, brushless rig, LiPos, Losi XX CR, couple of nondescript brushless vehicles, heaps of txs, bagos of junk, my favourite  ), so had a price of just over $170. Seller sends an invoice, asking what to do next, and how I intend to pick the items up. Next morning I e-mail the seller through eBay, telling him I've arranged for a mate to pay and pick up the stuff, and said mate will contact him tomorrow (Saturday). In response, an hour later, I get the following BS:
bagforcarryingadouche wrote:hey. sorry to say this but i have to cancell item. due to some complication, lastnight my garage and shed was broken into and everything was stolen including all the rc stuff. im so sorry for mate
I called shenanigans on him straight away, saying "no worries, show me a police report and I'll let it go.".

His response:
bagforcarryingadouche wrote:it wouldnt matter anyway mate. i didnt recieve your money and its noone lost beside mine. so im nt going to bother sending police records. if u would to complain to ebay thats fine with me
My guess is either he didn't get what he wanted, or someone offered more after the auction ended. Typical first-time seller BS right there.

Want to look at the auction? Here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330892281473&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:AU:1123

Not happy, Jan..... will neg him ASAP.

yep.. i needed a swing arm for my 400ex and i didnt want to spend about $600 on a new one so i found someone in the same state that i live in selling the part i needed on ebay. i figured if i need to return it the shipping would be cheaper if it was the same state. what do you know ,the person i found in nj was the biggest no good piece of shiP of a human that was selling used atv parts on ebay. i got the swingarm and instead of just leaving the bearings in this idiot must of used a pick axe to get the bearings out . i returned it paid to ship it and spent the cash on a new heavy duty steel (i like steel better anyway)+1 inch swingarm .

That's a fair idea..... you do, however, have to cancel the bidding BEFORE the auction ends!

Hmm...an auction can be cancelled, but I'm not so sure about bidding...I'm gonna have to look into that one.

EDIT: Here's the policy on a seller canceling bids; bear in mind that bids are, as Alex stated, only canceled BEFORE the end of the auction, not AFTER; or else the seller is violating the policy.

http://pages.ebay.ca/help/sell/manage_bidders_ov.html
"Canceling bids
In general, sellers shouldn’t cancel bids on their listings. However, there are a few legitimate reasons for doing so:

A bidder contacts you to back out of the bid.

You cannot verify the identity of the bidder after trying all reasonable means of contact.

You end your listing early.

Note: Bids cannot be reinstated after they've been canceled.
To cancel a bid:

Go to the Canceling bids placed on your listing page.

Enter the item number, the user ID of the bid you’re canceling, and the reason you’re canceling the bid.

Click the cancel bid button.

Pfft. eBay is a joke and for people to get worked up by the shenanigans that go on over there really need to find something more constructive to do with their time. Like it or hate it no one is forcing is to use it. While the system itself has flaws its the people you deal with that can be of the real concern.
To some people it's just another means in which to scam us.

Dirt bags will do what ever they can to scam their unsuspecting buyers. We aren't talking about normal people here, these guys are without a conscience. For any would-be buyer be aware of faceless internet deals. Sure eBay could being more but if it weren't them it would be Craigslist, Gumtree or the Trading Post. The only real way to avoid dramas is to do your puchases face to face.
