Need some help ID'ing an RC10

Hi everyone,

Let me preface this with I am brand new to RC and recently acquired an old RC10 from a friend and thanks to him I now have the itch. The car is in pretty rough shape, but it runs well enough for my 2 year old to be infatuated with it. My plan is to clean it up, replace parts, make it sellable and buy a newer RC.

I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out what model of RC10 this is. As you can see, it's a black tub so I'm not sure if it's a Team car, Worlds car or even an RC10T. From what I can tell, the prior owner made some modifications which is making it even harder for me to ID correctly. The chassis has a B stamp under the motor.

Most prolly started as a Team Car now modified with JG front truck tower, front long shocks, RPS steering bellcranks, Andy's front arms and missing front nose tubes. Rough shape indeed...

Asso_man pretty much nailed it. With the re-release of the rc10 plus the plethora of original parts, you could pretty cheaply make that a reliable runner. Any particular reason you want to get a newer rc?

Putting money into replacing parts on the car in order to sell it would likely be a losing proposition...

If you plan to start racing competitively, sell this car as it is and buy a newer model. If you simply want something to play with, fix a few things on this car and enjoy owning a classic.

Not really. If the restore goes well, I may just keep it for myself

As far as parts and what to look for and what is and isn't compatible with this particular car, that's a bit confusing to me. Will any vintage RC10 Part fit on this car?

Assess what parts you have that need immediate replacement - check the manuals for part numbers and then search Tower Hobbies etc and eBay

Original buggy body is still available in either ProTech or Viper shapes.

Looks a perfectly viable runner to me, especially with a youngster possibly at the wheel in a year or two (drop a 55T crawler motor in to slow it right down )

I appreciate that, and that's what I intend to explore once I price everything out. If it's not cost effective then I may just keep it for myself.

Yeah towerhobbies.com has quite a few parts in stock right now for the rc10.. just dye the parts black. I bought the missing items my gold tub needed and pretty darn cheap too! I think it would make a great economy 1st runner for the youngin' !

Thanks everyone for all the feedback and recommendations. I've since decided to cleanup the car and keep it for myself. I've already ordered new front and rear shock towers and a set of nose brace tubes. I'm also planning on sanding down the chassis bottom and then for $15 I'm able to get it powder coated. I'd like replace the front shocks with stock ones but I'm not quite sure which ones will fit. These are the most readily available on Ebay, however they are for the gold pan and I'm not sure if they would fit my car. Any ideas?

check out the manuals in the link suggested up there at rc10.com for the manuals. you will be able to see right away after looking at the manuals what will fit where.

your black pan is effectively a 'gold' pan, and should have .71 front shocks with a stock tower.
