Dying nylon parts...
Dying nylon parts...
Guys, i won an old unbuilt 2WD RC500 on ebay. The guy that owned it previously dyed all the nylon parts red. I want to dye them black as the red is inconsistient. Any tips on dying nylon parts? I thought i read somewhere before that dying the nylon makes the parts stronger. Fact or no? Thanks..............Matt...

You should have no problem dying them black. I like RIT dye which can be bought at most supermarkets.
I have also heard that boiling the parts relieves the stress of the molding process but I don't have any data to back that up.

I saw that car, but I've also seen others with red dyed parts...you may consider another round in the red dye to keep it "period".
Just a thought.

Just a thought.

personally myself and a lot of guys locally dyed parts black, mostly cause they would clean up well and not discolor.
Re: Dying nylon parts...
..probably just going to dye black as i have some spares that were dyed black and spares that were molded black.................

boiling introduces more moisture into the nylon, making it a bit more resiliant. (from what i've read)shodog wrote:You should have no problem dying them black. I like RIT dye which can be bought at most supermarkets.
