2.2 wheels on ultima threads?
I can't seem to find any of the threads to install 2.2 wheels on an ultima. Can anybody give me a link to some please.

Re: 2.2 wheels on ultima threads?
Good question...I'd like to suggest the recipe I used for my Optima Mid converted-to-FWD project, you'll probably also need to replace the C-carriers, steering knuckles too. The Ultima uses axles that are vertically pinned through the knuckles to the carriers. The axles don't spin, the wheels spin on bearings on the axles instead. Modern cars have bearings in the knuckles and the axle fitting into the knuckles spins instead, while cross-pins & hexes lock inside the wheels.
What I did with the Optima won't work with Ultima front control arms though, I'm anxious to see what other peoples' solutions are.

Completed projects: CYANide Onroad Optima | Zebra Gold Optima | Barney Optima | OptiMutt RWD Mid

Re: 2.2 wheels on ultima threads?
Rears are easy, the 12mm hex drive is one of the industry standards so there is a wide choice of wheels available.
Fronts are a little tricky due to the 4mm axles. Schumacher Cougar 2000 and Fireblade front wheels are a direct fit, the matching Schumacher rears use a bigger hex but it's a press fit like the Ultima ones so a change of hex drives will do the job.
Using the HPI adapter set you can then use any front wheel designed for an 11mm o/d bearing, so you can then use most of Tamiyas 2wd wheels with the exceptions being the DN-01/TRF201 wheels. The Sand Viper dish and the Astral wheels are popular.
You can replace the front axles with Kyosho Ultima RB axles, part numbers RS26 front wheel shaft and RS3 knuckle arm. This changes the axles to US size which means you can then fit Ultima RB, Associated B3/4 or Schumacher Cougar SV front wheels using US size bearings. Replacing the rear axles with the RS27 rear axles and drive pins will let you run the equivalent rear wheels to match.
If you want to change the fronts to hex drive, then replacing the upright assembly with the C hub, knuckle and axle from the Traxxas Bandit XL-5 or Ultima RB5. You can then use any hex drive wheels such as Team C, Kyosho or Associated B4.2.

Re: 2.2 wheels on ultima threads?
Whoa thanks for info Terry.
I was already wondering if Traxxas Bandit stuff would fit. I think I have a few parts still lying around. I want to change the front to a hex drive for sure that way I can go buy B4 or RB5 wheels at the LHS. I am going to try and swap the rear uprights as well and run bandit rear driveshafts. I don't want to worry about replacing the dogbones in the cars.

A parts list of RB5 parts needed for the hex conversion can be found here.
