New to rc10's - is this one good?

Post by hudson hornet ! »

Just bought this car and I am new to rc10's. This one is assembled but never ran.

What body would it take?

Should I run it or keep it on a shelf?

What vintage is it?

Any help is appreciated!!

It's a middle-era Championship Edition, early-mid 90s. After they changed to a Stealth, but before the parts all went black.

That is probably the best of the bunch for a runner; add ball bearings and you're 90% of the way to Team Car spec without worrying about upsetting some collector. Almost seems a shame to run one this clean, but it would be a great runner. I have a brand new all-black-plastic one that I'm "saving" for when my other RC10s wear out.

it managed to stay safe this long, don't run it now.

i'm surprised at seeing the black aluminum shock caps instead of them being plastic.

Please do not run that! You need a Protech II body.

If you need a runner, I will gladly trade one with scratches on the bottom!

Good eye Jason! I thought they came on some kits but never had proof and could not trust my memory!

I'm guessing that must be one of the last CE models, when they were putting them together with what ever was available, probably around 94ish. Black shock caps and worlds arms included.

Just needs a set of u/j's and ballraces and you would have the perfect runner, but as others had said it much to good to race.

You need a Protech II body and the rear shock bottoms need turning around.

You are welcome to any pictures I have. I just bought the thing last night on the Bay, so it will be a couple days before I get it physically. If you need better shots please let me know.

It had a buy it now of $ 100

I figured that it was worth that since it was new. I don't really know what vintage RC10's go for yet and it was kind of an impulse buy. I was looking for a touring car!

This site is so cool! Thanks guys for the help in determining what I bought. Don't worry I'm not going to flip this car- I have a new RC10T2 that this will look good next to on my shelf.

If you guys have any other information I welcome it. In the short time I have been here I have already learned a lot, but there are so many things to look for when it comes to RC10's.

Thanks,

I figured it had the wrong arms on it!

Those will probably of been the arms that came with the kit. By the end Associated were putting CE kits together with what ever was available, which makes it even more unusual.

$100, why don't I find gems like that, great find :)

The only CE I'm missing and it only went for $100, C stamp, didn't think it came in white, also the shock cap's, I thought that they should be plastic. Very nice hard to find score!!!!
