RPM ball cap install question

Post by RC Chick »

So I'm trying to put lunsford turnbuckles on my zx5 but I have ran into a snag. The RPM ball caps don't seem to be the right size(to small). Is this correct or am I just being a tard? can I only use the stock black ball caps that came on the ZX5?

Yes, Kyosho has larger ball studs than Losi/Associated, only their ball cups work.

More like DAMN US industry and consumers can't make up their minds which system that want to use. JUST CHOOSE ONE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. At work use metric, at home use English/Standard. :?

Well I got the turnbuckles on th ZX5, using the stock ball caps. very bummed out, I wanted to use the blue RPMs I already had. It lookd sweet just sitting up there. I guess because these are raced people don't go all out huh? They keep the stock peices and don't add their own color. Heck I can't even find rims for this thing without using the stock ones. I found some on ebay from rcstation and I am still waiting for them, 3 weeks now. :? If anyone knows which whells will fit I'd be very happy. If I figure it out I'll post it here.

Sorry D, you should have gone with the B44 if you didn't want to go metric. I have no problems with Imperial or metric as I've dealt with both for so many years, but I've always kept mostly with AE for my RC toys, except for the few Tamiya, HPI, and Mugen vehicles...and the RC18T... and whatever other metric cars (AYK) have found their way into my life. Basically, RPM and metric cars don't 100% mix, even though they offer stuff for the MGT, TMaxx, etc... maybe there are ball ends for those that will work on your Kyosho?

were those the rcstation ones?
I was debating a set for my ZX5 myself, would love to know what the tyres are like when they arrive.

Yes those are the exact ones. I asked what the tires were like and I got an answer of yes the rims have tires. I emailed them yesterday to find out if they shipped out and I got Yes they shipped out. Why is it that you have to play 20 friggn questions with people? If I ever get them and You haven't purchased any I will take some better pictures for you. I really hope they get here soon.

I have Losi Titanium ball studs on my ZX-5, and RPM yellow ball cups also!!

When I got the car (used), it was a mix of Standard & metric on it, and not a single ball cup or tie rod, so I took the stock tie rods from my RB5 build (I went directly to Lunsford) and the RPM cups and picked up all the same type ball studs.

If I could have found Kyosho ball studs to begin with, it would have all K-car parts. They just dont seem to wear out. Not for me as of yet anyways.

Very interesting. I don't see how that works but I'll have to take it a part and see. I don't know what the thread pitch is or even the diam. of the ends. Thanks for the info though.

Kyosho is 3mm & Losi is 4-40...I dont recommend putting 4-40 into a 3mm used hole. But if the parts were new, no issues.
